Mag Modders Rejoice

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Wouldn't yeah know it... I get a lathe and stuff goes commodity ;-)

Couple that with an prolongated press Peizo and a Halltg... hmmm...

If it just wasn't 52mm!!!

They make a 26mm but the driver is only rated for 1/2 the power. Of course, you can get one of kaidomain's P7 drivers in 17mm configuration and replace the puny one from DX and have a 26mm 1000 lumen light!

Nice thing about 52mm is that it is a great Maglite module with a little work!

And yes, the Halltg. Just got 5 of them!

Ho hum.
Same old reflector and probably same old driver.

How about a deeeep smoooth reflector ( like W300's) and a 3 mode Hi med low driver.

nice... throw it in and your done.... run 2 18650's with a little over 8 volts... Nice !!

You will probably have to decrease the OD to make it fit in the Maglite for diving.

Does this fit into a normal maglite without much alterations?

if you don't mind bezel not screwed all the way, than yes, if you want to do it right, you need to sand away few mm of the thread. not hard to do, a sheet of 80 grit sandpaper, and 15-20 min of work.

Thanks for the replies, after sanding down the bezel does that mean it will pretty much slot in the maglite and turn on? or will i have to solder wires? wish someone would make kits for maglites they would make so much money from it.

Nope, you would have to remove the Mag switch and run wires out of it. Then solder those to the module. Not hard, but it does take a bit of work.

I believe you can find some true drop ins around here in the modified lights for sale thread.

you send the head threads, not bezel, and you will have to solder wires.
there is a kit with xm-l that you just drop in, takes 2 min, one of members here makes them, look for member cmacclel.

I used this drop-in last week and I didn't shave the threads at the top of the drop in. I grabbed my dremel to grind down the second heatsink lip just a bit and it fit perfectly by loosening the head, putting the bezel on, and then tightening the head. But that is just how I did it. As said before though the bezel will not tighten down all the way. I only assume though that they are using the same heatsink on that XM-L. I am anxious to see how that DX version performs.

If only i was more tech minded could do custom work, i love maglites but sometimes it does cost too much to mod then compared to buying one already made up then just go from there.

Got my first 5 modules today... Other than being the crappy 3-levels with 2 strobes it is absolutely awesome!!!

350xfire, we don't believe you because there are no beam shots. :) How does it compare to the 5 * Cree LED dropin?

Haha.. The fact is is absolutely hate beamshots as they never look like the real thing... It's awesome and that's all you need to know. lol! I would definitely compare it to the 5 LED module for $20 a great deal. I'm loving this LED... I don't did the worthless modes but I can live with it.

Oh and I ordered when the thread was first started so just under 1 month...
