I use a peel-&-stick cellphone magnet to put my Fenix P3D within reach while on my wheels. This one holds the light really well without modifying the light plus the magnet is inexpensive and unobtrusive.

The cell phone needs a thin peel-&-stick metal disk, a couple came with this magnet, in order to attract to the magnet.

No more rooting around in the glove box or pant's pocket to bring a light swiftly into action. No more watching the cell or light sliding about the dash or elsewhere in the car (Honda Element).

More photos of the car dash mounted magnets:

Rescued from out of the pool, Oregon Rain Beetle, who warmed up nicely and helped keep me company during the photography.

Wow, That's a great idea. I have a few very strong magnets sitting around, I can use for this. I think the battery inside the flashlight should be enough to keep them attach together.
Thanks Oregon, for a great and useful ideal.

The flashlight can be turned/spun 360 degrees without losing the magnet's grip so you can direct the light, strobe or SOS in any direction (out any of the car's windows) you desire and leave it there hands-free. You might even be able to see that deer about to cross he road up ahead as you drive.

With the right flashlight, one with a magnet attracting tail, you could candle the light to illuminate the car's interior or activate the strobe so it can be seen in all directions at once.

I found the "Honda" branded peel-n-stick magnets online but I bet Radio Shack sells similar products near you.

will magnets cause any damage to the light? i mean, i have a few earth magnets i got off DX lying around which i could use if they dont damage the lights

I have a bunch of the DX magnets here also (there are some stuck to the windshield pillar in one of the photos holding a solar keychain light by its keyring). They could scratch the finish on some lights if they aren't coated in some soft material (like the plastic coated ones in my pic) because they are bare metal.

I would cut and glue some bicycle inner-tube onto the magnets top to give the magnet's business side a soft surface. Shelf-liner would probably also work and might have stickum on one side already. There are probably several choices for covering the magnets with something thin, soft and sticky at your local craft store (we have Michael's here in my neck of the woods).

Also, I haven't noticed any degrade to the electronics/performance of the flashlight since being in contact with the strong rare earth magnet.

I'm surprised the metal in the batteries is enough to hold the lights... Cause aluminum doesn't stick to a magnet. :candle:

Does anyone know if the strong magnets could damage the lithium batteries?

I know alkalines are destroyed by strong magnetic forces.

Thanks

Does anybody know whether there is an effect on NiMH batteries caused by strong magnets?
I stick my L2D to a wall all the time using strong a magnet:thinking:

I only wish more lights incorporated magnets in their design.
They can be very useful for aiding in placement and storage.

Great use in your example because the new magnets are so strong.

Thanks
X/BillyD..
