Based on the advice of fellow CPF members I bought the Maha MH-C9000 Charger... This was way more than I expected... lots of settings and options... what is the best settings for charing Eneloops, any tips or tricks you guys care to share for someone with their first charger...

cheers!

Use the forum search function and look for posts by Silverfox. He knows a LOT about recharging batteries.

As I recall for Eneloop AA's, they are rated around 2000 milliamps, so at a .5C charge you could set your Maha for 1000 milliamps and just use the charge mode. Similarly for the Eneloop AAA's, you could use the .5C figure again and set your Maha for 400 milliamps in the simple charge mode.

There are other detailed threads on using the "break-in" feature of the C9000 to maximize your Eneloops if you really have the time needed for squeezing every last drop of capacity out of your new batteries. Similar info for the "refresh-analyze" mode of the C9000, can also be found ithe CPF forums.

Hello Claigvla,

Are you a "technical" user, or just a "normal" user... :)

I believe the Eneloop cells are now old enough to benefit from a Break-In cycle, so you can do that first.

After that, just put them in the charger and take them out when it says "Done." You can get a little extra into them if you wait 2 hours after Done displays, so if you aren't in a hurry, wait 2 hours before taking them out.

I am hearing reports that the low self discharge rate cells don't like to be trickle charged. Even though the C9000 has a very low trickle charge rate, I would recommend pulling the cells after the charge is complete.

Now, if you want to go into the details of what all you can do with the C9000, you will find a review on it in the reviews section of the form that goes into most of it in detail.

Have fun.

Tom
