MC-E Wiring and Battery Options

In addition to looking at doing a Mag 5761 mod, I'm also thinking of doing an MC-E mod, but I have no idea about the different connection options and battery options. What's the difference between wiring all the LEDs in parallel, or 2s2p? Also, what are the different battery options, and why would you use one setup over another?

I've had a think about this, and I think I've got it worked out... With 2s2p, you can use 2 batteries in series (e.g. 2x18650), giving the same voltage drop across each pair of emitters (thus 3.7v across each emitter), whilst giving enough current to drive them at full power (e.g. 2x18650). Is that correct?
