Hi I am building a mce light that will run on 2-18650's I need some help with parallel vs series and what driver would be best to get the most lumens out of the mce

thanks

2*18650 = 7.2 Volt
the MC-E can be wired in series --> 4*3,7 V = 14,8 V,
or wired in parallel (like P7) --> 3,7 V

so when using the series wired MC-E, You need a step up (boost) driver (like SHARK from Sandwich shoppe, or Maxflex from taskled ,
with the parallel wired quad-led some step down (buck) driver that gives enough current.

Both have their pros and cons, f.e. the parallel setup needs a high current, high current means bigger parts --> driver is bigger in physical size.
Series driver on the other hand can add a bit of losses due to it having to ramp up the voltage.

For me, the only useful way of driving multiled is in series, and both Shark and Maxflex can power a quad with full current, when the input voltage comes from 2*18650 cells. That setup alone guarantees that each emitter-die gets the same current.
(but the parallel wired P7 also still work, so ... matter of personal taste)

I run my MCE chip is series, all 4 dies at the same time, I use the Luxdrive drivers from Led supply.. They are the best and have fast shipping.. You get the most out of the chip and Lumens this way ..
