I've read from one poster that the Microfire Explorer III out the front is a true 500 lumen. The price is 239.00 and I'm thinking about getting it. But besides that one post I haven't seen anything else about it. Even if it doesn't do the full 500 I assuming it can at least do 300-400 right? Hows the quality of the beam? The throw?

From what i can tell it's a P7 and uses 3 x CR123A batteries

Any review I've seen of a Microfire product is generally favorable, however there is the issue of output-per-dollar. These short-body multi-die lights are all the rage right now, and Microfire is priced inexplicably higher than the competition. Some similar models of note:

Fenix TK40: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=696
Olight M30: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=86&products_id=1488
EagleTac M2: https://www.eagletac-store.com/product_info.php?cPath=103&products_id=1470

All of these lights are between $145-158, making the Microfire's nearly $100 premium very much out of place..

I guess per dollar it is more expensive but the explorer III is actually smaller at 5.5 inches vs 6.9/7 for the other 3 if I'm not mistaken. And it seems like it would make it a better edc flashlight.

I'm just wondering if the output lumen is really at 300-500.

Hi,

Just wanted remind you this thread as the last reply is few months old... This explorer looks like interesting light... Is it worth it's price?
Rgds

I have the tl3 light and I am very happy with the purchase. The build quality is very godd as are the accessories that came with it. It seems brighter than my m1x so the lumens are up there. Very good light IMHO. If I had the $ I would not hesitate to purchase another.
