Modding a Incan Insight M3X to LED

Hello! I just bought a incandescent Insight M3X. I rather want it to be LED, but Insight has discontinued their M3X line and M3X LED conversions.

I e-mailed L-3/Insight asking their CS if they happen to have some new old stock of the conversions, but I'm not going to put all my faith in their response. So if I can't buy one, I figure maybe I can make one.

I've browsed YouTube and Google looking at how other people have converted incan flashlights to LED. Seems like a simple process, but things that look simple may not be simple. I have some experience soldering electronics but this is my first venture into LEDs. I don't know if a 5mm with the original reflector will meet the light output I want, or if a high power LED will fit and be effective--or if I need resistors or heatsinks or whatever.

My whole goal is to make a LED drop-in replacement for the old incan bulb that has about a 200 lumen output. If it is possible, I'd like to share the mod with other incan M3X owners.

Thanks!
