here and there
Well i went to wally world about 30 mins ago, and picked up a Rayovac sportsman extreme, and a Rayovac brilliant solution ( i guess thats the name) Pen light. The sportsman seems to be a pretty nice light. Descent beam and focusable wich is nice. Seems to be a pretty descent (sp) build quality. Has some weight to it wich i like. Overall for $19 i'd buy it again.

The brilliant solutions pen light rather dissapointed:shakehead. It runs on one aaa not so bright and a pretty bad tint to it. I wasn't expecting a hihg caliber light but for $2.97 i really can't complain. It really is pretty dim, but hey it's alright.

Here is the rayovac Extreme.

That's about it. I'm pretty happy witht the Sportsman extreme. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a cheap LED light that has a pretty good build quality. I really wouldn't suggest the penlight it might be a little better in the dark i'll have to wait and find out:whistle:.

Keep the pen light in your bedroom. If it's totally dark and your eyes are adjusted, fire it up and look around. :) I think you'll be surprised.

Other wise, yeah, it's pretty dim. :)

I really went to wally world to grab a red Nite Ize for one of my mini mags for that exact purpose. Then they didn't have it so i picked up these to lights instead
 Oh well overall i'm happy.

I picked up the same Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme yesterday.

I'm quite happy with it. It's the beefiest of the lights I own at the moment.

Ya it is a pretty beefy light. Also i can see it's gonna be plenty bright enough for almost anything you'll need it to do. Maybe except trying to see across 95 football fields like some lights but thats ok i can live with it not beign able to do that.

I love my 3 Highbeams (same as Sportsman Extreme, just come with holster). They make a great work light. Clips to pocket and can take a ton of abuse. Also easy to work with leather gloves on.

Seems to be tough. Has anyone ever tried to see how "waterproof" this light is. To me it doesn't seem like it can be to waterproof, with how the tailcap sits when it's off or on momentary mode.

When it's tightened all the way down, it's "water resistant" at best. Ok for a light rain, but don't expect much better.

Alright, thats kind of what i guessed. Well for $20 i'm really not gonna argue, even if it lasts a year i'll be happy. I would definetley buy another if it went out any time soon.

I think I might get another of the 1W Sportsman Xtreme to keep in the car.

Perfect size for the glovebox and a good price for an 2AA LED light ($16 cheaper than the 2AA LED Mag).

Wal mart has two of those (*edit* actually three if you include the two different 80L models), a 45L (pictured) and an 80L. They are made in China by Nuwai. My local wal mart has two versions of the 80L, one with OP reflector and one smooth. IIRC the OP reflector one has orange accents on the packaging, plus you can see the OP reflector through the blister pack. If it were me I'd go for the 80L;)... but thats just me.

I now have 3 Nuwai lights and they are all very well made, regardless of price. I wouldn't doubt if all the Nuwai products are equally well made.

I'd go with the 1 watt over the 3 watt. The tint is much nicer (not purple), the difference in brightness isn't very noticeable in actual use, and the runtime is MUCH better.

Thats definitely the case with the old 3 watt - HOWEVER:

The local Wal*Mart is now stocking the new Sportsmans Xtreme 3 watt which now features a REBEL emitter in a textured reflector.

And IMHO, the REBEL has the most consistently neutral tints with the smoothest beam patterns of any of the new POWER LEDs...

Same price, same packaging, except now with orange trim rather than green...

Cool!! thats good to know. That helps explain some of the differences I saw the other day. Orange trim packaging / OP reflector -VS- plain green packaging / smooth reflector. Both versions advertised 80L and the same price

I bought a good Rayovac about a month and a half back. It is the three 3 cell LED. The light color might put some people off (a little bluish) but it is as tough as boot leather and a surprising thrower for an "out of the package" light.

It has taken a few HARD tumbles and no problems....if they make all their top end lights like that one I would say you got yourself a good deal.

Ya i like this light, i brought it with me to school (and the Fenix of course) to see how it worked while working on trucks. Didn't really get a chance to use it cause' we are using big circuit boards and making a mock of a trucks chassis electrical systems. We had plenty of light, but a few of my freinds were impressed by it.
