I have had a craftsman 3D light for a few years, and practically never use it. Frankly it wasn't much brighter than my stock mag AA. I found it the other day, and decided to mod it. I was given a luxeon, but I needed a heatsink and I didn't want to spend any money so I decided to homebrew it.

I took into an old 486 CPU heatsink with my dremel

Then I placed my cut-out piece inside the heatsink, heated with a blowtorch, and melted a heck-of-a-lot of solder to fill in the holes. Results:

I of course had to spend some time grinding it down to make it all even, but overall I am very happy. Will be mounting/testing durring the next few days.

I just got my paws on an Celeron heatsink. I was wondering whether I could use it for a Lux mod somehow. Thanks for the idea!
