hi guys,

today i will show you my latest flashlight.

when i designed the light, i think about what i need.

my aspects:

high quality of light ( Nichia 219C )
bright ( 1500+ lumens )
18650 accu
battery indicator ( important ! )
nice design.

and so i startet drawing:

after spending many ! hours in front of my computer, i went in my cellar and start manufacturing the light:

next step was polishing the light:

after this, i anodized the parts in grey and blue.

the assembly was very complicated, i will show you:

this is the back of the head and you see the 24K gold plated contact for the battery and the isolators:

inside the head i build in a glass-ring with blue and red leds:

the marriage between the two parts of the head:

the copper heatsink with 3x Nichia 219C:

the tailcap:

the head and body:

and here it is:

the battery indicator works only in standby, blue is >3.9V, violette is >3.3V and <3.9V, and red is <3.3V

every mode ( low, med, high ) gets an own color, so you can read the mode from the glass-ring:

low:

med:

high:

the driver is a stock nanjg 105C with 16x AMC 7135, but i wrote my own firmware to control the color-leds ;)

best regards,

Michael

Wow that is a fabulous looking light! I've seen some of your work, is this a Ti based light? I'd been interested in buying one if you plan on making more. zandar

That is super nice. That size is my favorite, and I believe, the most useful form factor.

Great work!

Ingenious battery meter/glass-ring design w/colors representing batt. status! Also like the gold plated contact(s), and your overall design aesthetic. Really very, very nice!

Very clean machining work, nice!
It appears that the head between the bezel and the LED ring is just a friction fit and o-ring? Does it lock into a groove to keep it together?

Vey nice design and build. I really like the battery status indicator function. I assume the side switch is for mode changing only? Tail cap is for On/Off activation only?
I'd own this one.

YES, very innovative design especially the power display.

I would also like to hear about how the top switch is set up.

Addition of a Strobe Feature would be interesting.

I agree, super nice.

Is it just my eyes or, is the picture "the copper heatsink with 3x Nichia 219C:" missing a wire?

Anyways, more than I've ever done flashlight wise.

thank you, its nice to hear that ;)

no, there is a screw in the center of the parts.

yes, the tailcap switch is only for on/off.

the side switch has some functions

1. long press while light off: turn the light on
2. short press while light on: change mode
3. long press while light on: turn the light of

if you turn the light of, the battery indicator appears for 10sek. after this, the status-led bar change into a standby mode with a very low blue ( about 1mA ) as locator.

a short press in this standby mode will activate the battery indicator for 10sek again.
and a long press in this standby mode will turn on the led as normal.

i dont like any kind of strobe in my flashlights, but it would be possible.

yes, you´re right, i forgot soldering one wire, but i noticed this really fast during the first test run ;)

Very cool. Love the creativity. Wish I could manufacture a flashlight in my basement! My family would never see me! lol

i know that kind of problem with my girlfriend :D

regards, Michael :)
