After EDC'ing on my keychain for less than a year my IlluminaTi doesn't work anymore. On it's last stages it would only briefly flash when rapped on a hard surface. I did all the usual troubleshooting steps. Tried replacing the eneloop cell, cleaning the threads and contact points but now it's totally dead. Is anyone aware of any reliability issiues with this light? As a side note my Fenix Lod and Fenix E01 are still going strong. I'm thinking of getting a Fenix LD01 as a replacement or the ITP EOS A3 but for some reason I think the circuitry in the ITP is made by the same company the manufactures the board for the IlluminaTi. The reliability of the Fenix lights are second to none which is why I don't mind paying a premium for it. Any thoughts?

You are the first person I've heard of who has had issues with the Illuminati, sorry to hear yours has died on you. I bought one of these when they first came out but I was unhappy with the galling. Regardless, have you tried contacting Matt at Battery Junction? He may help you out.

As far as I know there is no connection between ITP and the illuminati but I could be wrong. If you are really worried about quality and durability though I would probably go with the fenix over the itp, but bother are well loved lights.

I haven't EDC'd the IlluminaTi I have, but the LD01 has been on my keychain for a while now. I'm not actually sure when I bought it or how long it's been though. Never given me a peep of trouble though.

Although I'm not jumping at the opportunity to buy another 4sevens light (I have only average opinions of the ones I already have) the Preon ReVO looks very tempting. The modes are more preferable to me than the LD01 and if I didn't already have the LD01 I'm sure I would have already ordered one.

edit: anyway those are just other options if you can't work out the issues with your IlluminaTi.

Try take the spring out of the body and clean the spring and the inside of the body.

My IlluminaTi quit working after 3 months and I did the same as you with the troubleshooting tips and nothing. I cleaned the contacts for about 5min and it has been working perfect since. I guess it had a lot of build up on the head and just needed a good scrubbing to come clean. I hate that they only have a 6 month warranty.

Hope yours comes back to life.

I just did another total cleaning with no luck. In all fairness it did get a fair bit of banging around on my keychain but still I wanted to put it out there to see if there were any reliabilty issues with these lights. It seems that there are none so it must be just one of these things that can happen to any brand light from time to time. Thanks for all your input!

Try one last thing. Screw the head in tight and then smack it head down against a board or piece of wood.

I would suggest trying to fire up just the head. Put it face down on a table and hold the battery against the positive contact. Then take a wire, a bent out paperclip can do, and touch it to the negative end of the battery and the other end to the contact at the edge of the head. I don't have one of these, so I am not sure if the negative contact is a ring on the edge of the circuit board (probably) or just through the threads, like an Arc.

If it lights, you have contact issues, not a dead circuit. I find it helpful to set the head on the edge of something like a napkin so I can see if there is light coming out when I make the contact. Good luck!

Just tried both of these suggestions to no avail. I'm sure it must be the circuit and as far as I know there is no easy way to remove the board/led from the head. I may just list it on the CPF marketplace and get a few dollars for it from someone who wants the titanium body to use as a host for a project.
