my latest dual cree
I just finished my latest dual Cree head unit. It's a copy of the il2mb light, but with a few slight differences.
I used the L-bracket inside just like he did but decided to use the light bracket as a heat sink. I need to finalize lenses but when that's done I'll close up the front with some Lexan.
The back was closed up with some 1" end caps, ground to size then glued together to make one unit. It's not totally waterproof but I don't ride in the rain. An o-ring or silicone would fix this.
I used standard stuff; 3023 driver, Judco switch, Q5's, Ledil optics and some 1"x2" tubing from OnlineMetals.com. It's slightly rounded on the corners so it looks a little nicer than the square stock.
The light bracket was hand bent from some 1/4"x 3/4" aluminum bar, then mounted to a piece of slightly bent aluminum sheet to give it some stability. I used a Velcro strap to hold it onto a tab of Velcro on the helmet.
A nice helmet light, light compact and best of all easy to build.

Nice, it looks good!

I'm also glad to see that the Judco switch isn't too deep. I think I might try one of those soon, no fancy integrated LED, but simple and not ridiculously long/deep.
