My Collection
After studying other builds and doing a ton of work to finish these my head hurts, but I have to thank all you guys for your great ideas. I now have a collection of lights that have cost me lots of cash and many hours of enjoyment, both riding and building.
I only wish I had access to a machine shop, all these lights are made using hand tools.
Many different styles of lenses used as well as bins of Cree's and obviously housings.
I finally did a comprehensive collection of beam shots from all my builds, as well as a family portrait.
Japanese Maple is about 50ft away, tree behind it to left is about 75ft.
All photos are set manually at f5@ 3.2 sec. This setting seemed to be closest to what I was seeing-BUT the camera was not picking up much spill on the sides of the beam. All beams had slightly more spill and softer hot spots in center. I don't have a Digital SLR so the Digital I was using didn't give a totally accurate photo. These represent the best I could get using a Canon Powershot 720 IS, a good camera but without the light sensativity of a full size SLR
I guess the purpose of this thread was to show the different lens and housing possibilities, to compare each optic and show the beam patterns.
