FenixStore graciously offered a replacement grip to all TK20 owners who received early versions. It seems the grip would spin when trying to turn the head, espectially with the pocket clip removed. :sigh:
I sent a request to the store for the grip on 11/5, and received it today, 11/15. :twothumbs
Before any pictures, I already disassembled the original grip in expectation of the new one arriving, and cleaned the flashlight up nicely.
Getting the old grip off can be the worst part. :green:
The first thing I noticed is the grip is very clean looking, a brighter-looking yellow, not dingy looking like the original grip was (as received).
Looking closely at the differences, it seems the ribs that fit in the light's locking channel are larger. The material seems a little thicker overall.
Installation was much easier than getting the old one off. Just slide it down with a firm grip and the bottom of the light against the workbench.
Here it is installed.
After putting a little Krytox in the o-ring pockets, then the o-rings, then a little more Lube on the top of the o-rings, and deoxit on the bare threads and mating flats of the center tube, I reinstalled batteries, the head, and tailcap. But not the pocketclip yet. I can't stress how important it is to put some lube under the o-rings for easier head turning. This results in slippage on both sides of the o-ring, potentially reducing friction in half.
Put the flashlight through it's paces, and the grip stayed put! :twothumbs
Finally, reinstalled the pocket clip...
Installed the lanyard I purchased from Tekno_Cowboy...
And my TK20 is BETTER than new! Not only is a perfect fit, it looks much better.
Thanks 4sevens and Fenix-Store team, I'm very happy! :twothumbs
