I recently ordered a few Sanyo KR-1100AAU cells from 2 different companies. Both companies had the batteries advertised with the Sanyo label like this:

I have heard that Sanyo no longer offers their NiCd cells to consumers, and the ones that are available are left over from old stock.

When I received the cells from one company they were labeled with a plain green wrap and said:

KR-1100AAU MGS
Made in China.

When I received the order from the other company, they were labeled like this:

I have not had a chance to compare them, and was wondering if there is any quality differences from cells made in China compared to cells made in Japan? Also, do you think that these are actually Sanyo cells with a generic label on them? Is it posible that these are still being manufactured and sold without the Sanyo name brand on them?

Thanks in advance!

TBH the picture of the generically labelled NiCD you posted looks not dissimilar to the cells included in solar lighting products, though I must say yours appear to have almost 2x the capacity

Sorry I can't provide any definitive answers to your query... but I would be curious as to results of any comparison tests you conduct (please post) :D

I will be hitting the road this weekend and will not be back home until sometime next month. When I return I will run some test on the cells and let you know how they compare.

I can tell you one thing, I did not pay a generic price for them. :)
