My co-worker brought this light to me because he knew I was a flashaholic. It is an old flashlight...probably back when they first came out with LED's. He does not know what it is and it is something I've never seen before.

Here are some details about it that he gave me:

It is about 10yrs old.
He paid about $45-50 for it.
It takes 2-CR123's.
It has 5 unknown leds emitting a very bluish light.
It is made of aluminum.
There are no markings on it at all! (Making it completely unknown)
It can tailstand and has a lanyard hole.
It boasted of having a 1 ton crush capacity.

It measures 4 5/8" (118mm) long
3/4" (20mm) diameter.

Here's some pictures:

Here you can see that to turn on the light, the head has to unscrew a bit, which activates the spring loaded switch in the head.

Well, that's all the info I have. Hopefully some of you can identify this ancient expensive light.

Those are 5mm Nichias ... Blue Nichias :D

It is the first generation Inova X5. Very beautiful light.

INOVA X5 was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it too. Several design implements carried over to modern day models, the piston and the 5-LEDs embedded in the bezel. The flutes came to modern day models too but were eventually turned into flats.

I miss the flutes though.

And I miss regulation. I so want a new X5 with a driver and the same cool 5x5mm head.
