For about double your $50 budget and "exotic" battery option, you get get one heck of a floody beam with intensity to match. The SureFire 9P with the P91. Links in my sig shows it in action. It'll light up your camp and the next two over as well.

But seriously, you can't go wrong with some of the lights already mentioned.

The minimagLEDs are supposed to go from flood to spot without the donut hole of earlier mags.

I make my own floodlights hy sandwiching a piece of textured plastic between the lens and reflector of my (old style) minimags. I stuck a piece of press n seal on the inside od the lens of my 2C magLED and got a very bright flood.

Suggest you get a 3AA or 3D magLED for maximum brightness.

If you buy an extra lens you can change from flood to normal just by swapping lenses - no need to remove or reapply the press n seal.
