Need feedback on my battery article.

I wrote an article on Hubpages hoping to address some common consumer questions about batteries. It is meant to be easy to read for the non-flashaholic and is not intended to be super in depth. The page does contain some google and amazon ads but I am not trying to sell anything to you guys here. I want to have accurate and easy to read information so please help if you can, and please be gentle!

You think it might be worth mentioning CRV3 batteries? They're the 3V Lithiums that are shaped like (and used in place of) 2xAA side-by-side, usable in many cameras that take 2 or 4 AAs.

Nothing in the article about what types of battery technology have most/least environmental impact, safest to dispose, etc.

Thanks, thats a great idea. I have added some of that info into the body but I think I will create a dedicated section for this later.

It seems to me that the starting "Primary" section should then have major chemistry bold sections, under which you can list some of the size models. You discussed general features of other primary cells in first paragraph, but it doesn't leave the reader with a clear set of categories to hang their hat on, before jumping into specific models of lithium primaries, of which there are many other sizes & shapes. Use indentation to allow user to visually see where they are in the categories.

The section on Li-Ion is too "diffuse" and meandering. You mix features, pro's/con's, safety into a blur and with no differentiation between LiPo, and the various Li-Ion chemistries.

Following it all with subjects of self-discharge and memory effect should be a part of the features of different cell types, rather than coming at the end as a separate set of issues.

You are right, it needs some work. I tend to be "diffuse" and "meandering" myself so I don't always recognize it! :D

Agreed.
 
The layout is a bit narrow, and you could mention lithium-rechargeables aging way faster than NiCd/NiMH (also toxic waste afaik when at their end of life) but otherwice it seems doubleplus good :thumbsup:

Yes it is a bit narrow, but that is defined for me by HubPages.

I plan on spending some time on the lithium-ion section. Have kids running around this weekend though.
 
Not sure what the point of your article is to be honest. There are numerous articles on different battery technologies and options that cover the points better, etc. No offence, but why write another one? I would suggest links to others.

It gives me an opportunity to learn something and a place to point my friends to, thats all.
 
Hello Gfang,

I might add that in addition to the L91 and L92 Lithium primary cells from Energizer, they also offer EA91 and EA92 Lithium primary cells. Energizer rates them as nominal 1.5 volts.

The L cells have a longer storage time rating (15 years versus 10 years), and do better at discharge rates above 500 mA. I believe they also have a little more capacity.

From what I can tell, people are trying to make money off Hubpages (as miniscule as that amount of money may be). The issue I have is you are obviously not an expert on the subject, and I expect a good distance from it. I worry that someone will go to hubpages and perceive you as such. Sorry, but just because "you can" publish on the internet, does not mean that you should.

Perhaps you should have a preamble explaining that you are not an expert in the subject and that really you have just put together the information of those with far more expertise in the area. I know the Internet is caveat emptor, but I still believe in honesty in advertising.
