Hey all. I'm looking for a weapon light that can be clamped to my AR rifle. It has to have or I can buy a remote switch for it. Not the coil remote though just the cable remote. I'm looking to get about 125 or more lumen with 123 batts. If I need to buy a upgrade drop in later to get the lumen I'm looking for that's cool. Now here's the kicker, I'm looking to spend around $140.00 or less for the light. I will buy new or used

For just having fun with your AR, any old light that strikes your fancy will probably do. If your life depends upon your light's performance, there is only one that I know to be battle-proven: The Malkoff M60 in whatever body will fit the mount you want to use. WWW.malkoffdevices.com

Good hunting.

i have a surefire backup with the surefire pressure switch and surefire m78 holding it on.
I find it's a fantastic combo.

This is not the answer you're looking for but I've been toying with a weaponlight idea. The problem is you need both flood (for nearby object recognition) and throw (for long distance targets). It's hard to do both with one light. Therefore why not run two?

Use a LaRue dual light holder and pick one light for throw and another for flood. I'm torn between either one tape to activate both or two adjacent tapes to selectively choose one or both lights.

You can also mix one LED and one incan for runtime (LED) and rain (incan).

The RRT (either -1 or -2) seems interesting for the ability to adjust intensity separately from the tape.

Anyway, those are my current thoughts regarding weaponlights.

i found a video here showing Jetbeams mounted on an M4 and a mossberg, the video isnt too helpful showing what the beams are like when pointed downrange but its more to show that the lights can withstand the recoil.

beamshots for the jetbeams are available on the forums, just search for them.

A couple of months ago I purchased an SPA-120 weaponslight kit off eBay for $59 just for fun and have been pleased with it. I thought about getting another because it was such a good deal, but I've noticed that they're running around $100+ now.

It's basically a Novatac 120T under the SPA Defense name. It came with a nylon/polymer/plastic mount to fit on a picatinny rail, an IR filter, and a remote tape switch. I don't know how good the mount is since I already had one, but it seems sturdy enough if you wanted to use it.

It's only 120lm which has been good for me, but as the above poster said, you can always upgrade if it's not enough for your needs. As a bonus you can use the easter egg to turn it into a 120P.

Just my 2c worth, but as a note, I have several NovaTac's so I might be a little biased. :grin2:

I just ordered a JetBeam Raptor RRT-2, OP reflector and a tape switch for my carbine, I don't know how well it's going to work out but it looks promising  Here is a tread with some pic's and mounting options to give you some ideas about the light.

I like the adjustable 240/100/30 lumen output and it will take CR123's or 18650 rechargeable cells which is a big plus for me.

Just another option to look at :)

Cheers

I've enjoyed my Eagletac TK100 MKII but I agree that for military use I would go with Surefire or Surefire + Malkoff dropin.

Olight M20 warrior is also an option. There are a lot if used Surefire weaponlights on Ebay.
