Hi guys. I'm looking for a rechargeable LED flashlight to replace the aging MagCharger. This must be a flashlight that can be charged without removing the battery.

Must have:

Charging stand or sleeve and preferably multi stand for 5 or 10 flashlights.
Tough, for police, security use.
Colored cones (wand) for traffic control.
Belt loop or holder.
Car charger.
220/240 V option.
Maximum two light levels, no strobe. No SOS. Simple mechanism to change levels (if available)

Thanks (in advance) for the help.

Dave

It may be possible to convert your Mag Chargers to P7 with a buck driver using the existing battery packs and keep charging them as your doing now.
Just a thought not too sure what heat sinks will work with the M.C.
Using this driver SSC P7 Buck Converter

Thanks for the replies so far. The Pelican's are now on my shortlist. Sorry, but don't want to update the Magcharger. The 5.11 is just too big! I've also shortlisted the Inova T4 which meets my requirements.

Budget is also an issue so maybe someone knows of a suitable light from China or Korea?

Thanks

Hi! If you really need to rely on your light to work (Police) I would not opt for a cheap China, DX or KD light. Buy cheap, buy twice. In addition to that durability, fast repair or exchange definitely makes more sense in your case than saving a few bucks. Just a thought....

I think Pelican 7060 is very good but heavy and big, when you look for a little light take a look at the Streamlight Strion LED, very good for Police use.

Point taken! Fenix, however are cheaper than Surefire but nevertheless a good quality range of lights. So I mean "cheaper", not "cheap"

Thanks

Thanks for your comments but you didn't read my initial post properly. I'm looking for a replacement for the Magcharger. The MC weighs 32 oz. and the Pelican 7060 8.2 oz. I wouldn't call the Pelican "heavy and big"!

I think you will like the Inova t4.
The beam has a nice combination of throw and flood, it is plenty bright on high and has a low mode.
it is operated by a large side buttom and fits comfortably in your hand.
It has a charging cradle. They make a traffic cone for it.
it can withstand a 20 foot drop onto asphalt and it still keeps shining.
good warranty

as you can tell, I absolutely hate this flashlight:hitit:

Hi there...

I don't really get why people want flashlights with built-in chargers. Changing batteries takes exactly 10sec... and if your flashlight runs out of juice while in use, you can replace the battery within seconds... with a magcharger you are screwed...

Pelican 7060 is an excellent choice, and charges fast.
The new polystinger by streamlight has slightly more lumens than the pelican at 185, about the same size, and will charge just as fast with a $25 fast charger. The polystinger can be carried on duty belt with either a flashlight holster of a "c" ring.
I have used both favorably on duty (the polystinger is being serviced right now for a small problem).

I have used a fair number of LED lights at work since they started getting released. The biggest problem with the lights I had was that you needed a backup with some pretty good runtime on it just in case your primary crapped out. I like the 7060, but it spent more time on the charger then it did on my belt or in use.

Whatever you get... my suggestion would be that you get something that has a drop in battery that can be charged externally and exchanged on the fly.

I use the TK11 R2... awsome bright, good throw, and the battery thing. best light I have owned (for duty use anyway :sssh:... my personal "toys" are another matter...) and its always on my belt with the back-up battery cell charged and ready to rock in my bag...

Streamlight's UltraStinger has a nicer beam profile than the MagCharger's.

Because you want a drop in charger, you are limited to only a few brands. Streamlight, Pelican, Maglight and 511 are the only companies I know of who make drop in chargers.

I have had the 7060 and it is a great light. I don't trust the Inova T4 as much, but have had one...and it is a good light. As much as I liked the 7060 (and I REALLY did) I like Streamlight's new Stinger HP Led even better. It is brighter than the Ultra stinger (Really liked too) has good regulation and simply feels very solid. While it has 3 levels and strobe...the stobe is Hidden and you must really want to activate it to have it come on. I have momentary pressed the switch 30 times fast/slow to see if it would trip the strobe....it does not. The light Always comes on on high...and holding the switch down lowers it to med then low..then back to med..then high.

is there any reason for a big and bad Flashlight ?
Please dont tell me you take to beat someone.
Today no one needs a big Flashlight with old technology.
All modern Flashlights are not so big as Ma...Char...
Batterys are better and smaller now, and so on.
You will love a smaller light when you use it for a while.

Yes - the fact that you want drop in charging means your options are very limited. I use several lights at work, and none of them are drop in charge. This has never caused me a problem at all, every night shift I change my batteries and drop some flats in the charger. It takes ten seconds. I use Ultrafire WF500 for those long range searches, and a 6P D26 LF drop in. For close searching I use a Fenix L0D. Something for every occasion. If I had to go with one light it would be the SF with the LF drop in. You could do that cheaper by choosing a solarforce body, which I've also found really reliable.
