New DX Ultrafire 5 mode Q5 C2

You're going to EDC a two cell huge reflector thrower? Just where do you spend your nights?

Yeah I ordered one too...been looking at the UFC2 for a while. The one that DX just posted has 5 modes and is quite a bit cheaper than the single mode one. I was starting to wonder if the price was a typo. As for the notion that it is simply a "thrower", I think its textured reflector should still offer a very useful beam for short range use.

Cross my fingers for decent QC on this new version. Going to be no point if they lower the price at the expense of the quality.

I prefer not to buy any of these type of lights until I read a review on them. So many of them are really disappointing. For example, I just purchased a 1 x AA Ultrafire, and the three constant outputs are so close I can't tell them apart! But you might get lucky. Good luck.

There is a thread on bargain lights and one of the top lights is similar to this, but it only has a high and low, costs $23. I bought it a week ago; still waiting.

There has been a review on the single mode version:

From my experience, Ultrafire has been fairly consistent with their build quality. Eventhough there is a noticeable price difference between this new version and the older single mode version, I think the reasoning may simply have to do with some sort of deal DX has worked out with the manufacturer and/or distributor.

Price mistake, they raised to $26.90 now. Are they gonna ship the wrong price orders? I ordered 1 yesterday and just don't know they will honor the price or not.

Good news, Kyle from DX announced he would honor all orders that are already placed for this product. :naughty::twothumbs

That's pretty "stand up" of DX. Glad I went for one! For all the DX bashing, in my experience the company is top notch - barring the logistical complications of distance and delivery time, IMO DX customer service is far better than average. Whether that says more about average customer service levels here in England, I'm not sure.

I made a mistake when I earlier said mine had shipped.

However.. . I did get a tracking number I think earlier this week and last night HK Post says they have it. This was the only item on my order so something definitely shipped.

Hoped it's a good one compared to the 602C Q5 I just had to send back.

First of all this is my 1st posting here. Been reading lotsa info here since I got myself a Fenix P3d Q5 in Feb'08. Subsequent to this, I was tempted by the review done here http://www.light-reviews.com/uf_c2/review.html on Ultrafire C2 So I got myself a C2 Q5 5 mode from DX. My 1st (Yes 1st) C2 arrived on Mar 7. Tested wth my RCR123 Li-ion which is rated max at 8.4V....To my suprise, the light was not as bright as Fenix P3D Q5 on turbo mode & just equivalent to Fenix high mode only which is ~130lumen! Then, the light turned blue & kaput. Returned & 2nd set arrived Yesterday! To my dismay, its too does not performed well & I suspect this is not Q5! due to the lack of Phosporous property (Just the centre bulb is yellow, the rest is silver base! which is diff from my Fenix P3D Q5!)

Instead of Li-ion, I used a stable LiFePo4 which is rated max at 7.2V only....Although not so bright & dissapointed, I was about to write to DX when I tested a moment ago & suddenly the light turn blue again & gone!!! A very sad day for me again...Not sure why lotsa review saying C2 better than Fenix !!!
