Received my new E2E-HA (my first Surefire) yesterday along with a box of SF123A bats, and an F05 red filter. This is for starters, LED KL1 head later? First, Wow! This flashlight has a super bright beam!
I've had a cheap knock-off Xenon tactical light (6P-like, 5.25" bulky/heavy, w/tail cap mom/twist sw) for a couple of years, and I always knew the beam was subpar (dark spots etc.), and now that one is going in a drawer.
I also use the assorted Mags & mini-mags.
Anyways, back to a question re: the E2E..
Lockout feature: The card & booklet instructions describe aligning notches & witness marks, but the E2E only has a witness mark on the tail cap. I found that aligning that mark with the belt clip works. So, is this normal?
Also, the seam on the bezel appears to have what may be glue or epoxy oozing a bit out of the seam? I wiped it down, as it was a bit tacky to the touch. Is this normal?
Overall, very impressed with this light, and actually, I really like that greenish hard anodized finish.

tracker870,

Welcome to CPF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

Some lights have witness marks and some don't, you probably have the new body style. I wouldn't worry about it. You probably won't even use the witness marks when you get used to your light.

When I lock mine out, I just turn & test to make sure it's locked out.

It's not normal for the epoxy to be oozing out.

The E2e is a great light. Enjoy!

Thanks! I got this one direct from Surefire, so I expect it's a fairly new one. It does have the Pyrex vs. Lexan.
There wasn't a lot of that epoxy; I just wiped it off, it's shiny stuff in the seam.
As I said, this is my first Surefire. I'll budget for a second in the Spring! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't think it's epoxy. Epoxy dries, sets, and bonds things together. Perhaps it's just a little too much silicone lubricant for the O-rings?

I agree with KelvinL, tracker870. I think the stuff is silicone grease rather than epoxy. Mine had some at the base of the bezel when I took it out of the sealed box too. I don't think you could've "wiped" it off if it were epoxy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Silicone grease makes sense. Initially, I was thinking, some pliable form of glue, for heat expansion & cold contr., but that would still solidify to some extent.

I too just the other week received a brand new E2e direct from Surefire, and it has the new body style. I am more than pleased with it, and in fact I can't find anything wrong with it. I hope you enjoy yours, as much as I truly enjoy mine.

I'm extremely happy with my new E2e that I got from Chris at Meridian Tactical. Great EDC size, great light.

Thanks for the welcome daloosh!

Hi voodoo, Had a good idea what I was getting after reading a bunch of the posts here, and using the Surefire comparison chart. They sent me a catalog with the order.
Can you say, Xmas ideas?

Very modular

Definitely get the KL1. The newer ones have pretty nice high domes in them. The only modification that I would consider necessary is the addition of an 17mm IMS reflector. Other than that, it'll be pretty bright and give you a hellacious runtime.

kind of a silly question, but does the KL1 run ok on the E1E?

i may just have to get both!

Bob
