My switch on my hds u60 broke a while ago so I contacted nova tac and the service from them was great…
Nova tac sent me back my new tails swich in about 1.5 weeks. The strange thing is that it's a new switch with the coil spring but it fits my hds? I thought that the new battery tubes were different in size and none compatible?
On a different note the new switches are not as well built as the old ones, I am not saying functionally they are not as good but are clearly cheaper in construction IMHO.

When Henry joined Novatac, they assumed the responsibilty for warranty on existing HDS EDC models. Even though Henry left they still maintain the service. The new Novatacs do have different threads.

maybe they produced a load of new tubes with new switches but cut the old thread for warranty repaires to the old ones???

This is quite interesting. Strider, could you post some photos of your new switch? It is probably old HDS inventory kept for spares purposes like this, but if it is newly made...

The last HDS lights had the coil spring contact. I have seen both types. The switch changed in the newer ones, but I think it is an improvement. I like the newer switch better because it is slightly easier to push.
Of course, YMMV.

I thought the main reason for HSD insane pricetag was quality.
I hear non stop stories about this and that breaking all the time.
Same for surefire.

Yep I said it.

dm51,

here are a few (the best i can take), if this is the new novatac its deff. shaving cost down. my old broken one?!?! was much better in construction, but it did break (well the spring came out).

errr. how do you upload photos?!?!?!? i cant work it out?

fastcar,

What would have more problems a basic honda or a ferrari? i prob. could of fixed it myself (hds spring) but didnt have the time. no bull, the hds's are a work of art...
I might not be an expert but have held, seen and own many high quality flashlights and other very high quality items and the hds is along there with my rolex seadweller, it makes a strider knife look like a £1.99 knife…no bull!
Nothing is perfect and nothing lasts forever. If I was to trust any electronic light it would be an hds……………. Full stop! i am not buying a novatac and this confirms it for me.....all of this is IMHO:)

I think we all need to wait until we have had a chance to hold and use the new lights before we draw conclusions. Only after the lights have been on the market and we get a good consensus of their performance and attributes/problems will we know for sure. We need to give Novatac a chance to show us what they have got. Since this is their first light and much is expected of it, I do not think it is in their best interest to not produce a quality light. On a positive note, I have heard that the new lights will ship 7-31-2007 and should be in dealers hands no later than 8-6-2007. Which means we should start receiving them around 8-9-2007. The wait is almost over.
:twothumbs

The tail you were sent was from "old HDS inventory", they have not produced any more replacements for HDS.....they will eventually run out from what I was told.

Do not try to put photos direct into CPF posts, as this is against the rules. You have to use a "host" site.

Go to photobucket and open an account there (it's free). They give you a personal album (space to store your own photos). You can then upload photos from your computer into this album, which acts as a host site for you.

To post them in a thread here on CPF, just click on where it says "IMG code" below the photo you want. This automatically copies the necessary code into your clipboard. Then simply paste this code where you want it to appear in your post.

Before uploading photos into Photobucket, make sure they are no larger than 800 x 800 pixels (resize them in photoshop if necessary). This size will be full-screen width on most screens, and smaller photos (600, 400 or 300 pixels wide) are often quite adequate.

It is best to have a separate window open for Photobucket when you are working on it, as you can then just move easily backwards and forwards between it and CPF. Try all this out in the "Practice Posting" forum before you post in a thread - you'll soon get the hang of it.

Strider, I'm not sure what you did there but it looks like the first "handle" is missing for each photo. There should be opening and closing "IMG" handles, which I have highlighted in red in an example below:

The code should look something like this:
URL] [COLOR=red][B]

Except the full photo url (the blue part) should appear without spaces or extra dots etc. I have added spaces in the example or it would probably just show an error message.

Try editing your post #12 and just typing in front of each photo, then see what happens.

Edit: Be sure to use the square [ ] brackets.

I can see the url codes now you've tried to edit the post again.
The codes have somehow got some extra stuff in there which is stopping them from working properly.
I think I can see what it is and I've taken it out, so your pics should now appear here:

OK, fixed. In each case the extra code which needs to be taken out is this:
?action=view&current=
I don't know how you managed to get that in there - any idea? Anyway, all you need to do is edit the urls and delete that bit.
Make a note of this somewhere, in case it happens again when you next post some pics.

Edit: BTW, these pics are too big. They are 1024 pixels wide. They should be 800 x 800 pixels max.
Also BTW - that is an HDS tailcap, not a new Novatac one.

Looks like the last version of the HDS tailcaps and tube. But the large spring looks like the ones in the Novatac. I'm assuming that the parts aside from the spring are NOS (New Old Stock) HDS parts.
