New Hyper-Lux I and Hyper-Lux V Flashlights

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

No! These are going to be production flashlights. But!! I am always interested in new ideas any may have for a short run job. As long as I get atleast 20 people wanting a special light then I will manufacture it for the people at CPF.

I am always willing to make custom lights.

Chris

Chris, I have your Hyper-Lux 5 in silver and it is a great addition to my 5 watters. The offer to build flashlights is very interesting. I can think of a few.

Is anyone else here interested in a 5W with rocker switch in the shortest length?

TnC Products:
Pardon my ignorance, but would the 5W run properly on 2 cells instead of the 3 or 4 that you currently produce?

Chris,

I received the HyperLux 5 yesterday. Thanks. Your shop does wonderful machine work! The light I got is very bright and a good bin 5W puts out a very good color. I partially dismantled the front end but found the Fraen optic didn't want to come out without some magic words that I don't have. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I may offer up an unsolicited constructive comment; I think as a dive light, this light is apt to disappoint some if they use it in salt water. I can't imagine that the ferrous spring steel lens retainer next to the Al will hold up too well. For a light of the caliber that you are obviously able to produce, please consider using a conventional threaded bezel cap for retaining the lens and you might also consider using a glass lens as well. OK, that's my contribution from the peanut gallery.

Thanks for the comments. The Steel ring is supposed to be a Stainless Steel ring. The manufacuturer didn't have any of the SS in stock. I only have a few of the SS rings left. If someone is purchasing it for diving I put in one of the SS rings for them. If you use it in salt water you will want to wash it with fresh water when you are done diving. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif But how many people are really going to do that huh! I have thought about re-designing the head to use a threaded head cap.

Thanks for the comments.

I just got my Hyper-Lux V (Blue) today and it is a beautiful light, a work of art really /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nice white beam as well brighter whiter and larger than my L4 but not quite as bright as my Blaster VI.

Thanks,
Phil

I haven't looked for a belt holster so I can't help you, sorry.

i just got my hyper-lux V in silver, it really is a nice
looking light.../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
i tried it on my inova holster and it fits, not perfectly, it could be about 3/4" deeper for a perfect fit, but it will
still hold on to the light as is.

I got an original TNC Spash Ano 5W LS flashlight back in late-April.
If I remember, I bought it for $125 on ebay.

Although the SureFire KL4 is brighter at 12" (where I measure mcd for LEDs from), the TNC flashlight noticeably outshines the KL4 at 5 or 6 feet; the distance from my computer to the left side wall.

My Hyperlux V just became a lot cheaper to run.

Normally it runs DD with 3 * 123. I had posted that Copia / Pila batteries were too fat to fit.

I'm happy to report that unprotected Panasonic 17670 Li-Ions slide in and out easily. One of these Li-Ions plus a 123 still drive the HL-V very brightly.

At the moment, I'm finding that each of my DD 5 Watters work well powered by one Li-Ion plus one 123.

They 5-watters dim down enough when the Li-Ion has run long enough to drop to the 3.0 V range that over discharge shouldn't be a problem unless one turns the flashlight on and walks away from it.

Just picked up a nice silver TNC Hyper-Lux 1 at the post today. Well it took forever to get dark today but when the sky was finally full of stars I went outside with it. I'll start by saying I have a KL1 and KL3 running off a Mclux 3x123 battery pack and they are a really good walking light with a good flood. I also have a Streamlight 3AA Luxeon tasklight which has a pretty impressive throw for a one watt light. Now the good part, the TNC Hyper-Lux 1 just stomps my other flashlights in brightness, throw and colour. The hotspot isn't as well defined as the 3AA but it easily out throws it due to the sheer number of photons coming out the "please don't point it at yourself" end (you know I did anyway). The colour is as close to pure white as I've seen in my short experience with led lights. Overall a very nice light, I am impressed, thanks Chris at TNC!

Got my Hyper-Lux I in the mail the other day. I am extremely proud of it, very good workmanship and very bright. This is my first LED flashlight and I am not disappointed. Awesome job TNC!!!!!!!

Hey Chris, is it possible to purchase just a Hyper LuxV and Hyper Lux1 head with a different colored Luxeon? Like red, blue or even UV? I own a HLV and HL1 and would think it would be a great addition to 2 of my favorite lights without having to purchase another 2 flashlights. -Frank

Hello Frank,
I can sell replacement heads with different color LED's in them. That won't be a problem.

Coming Really Soon. New Style for the H-L I and H-L V. Also will have a threaded lens holder on the head. Will be able to use the Fraen Optics or our new Custom Reflectors which will eliminate the small void the HL V has in the center. I will post pictures soon.

Chris

new custom reflectors?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

could you please tell us more about these?

Yes!
And does TNC have plans to make a small single cell 1 or 5 watt light?

The quality of your lights is spectacular and I would love a smaller version to carry in my pocket /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, not too much to say except they get rid of the small void in the middle that the luxeon 5watt produces.. They just sit perfectly in the head of the Hyper-Lux lights. There is no bonding optics in anymore. With my new head design you can use either fraen optics or my reflectors. The good part is you can purchase different beam patterns with the reflectors. Either tighter beam or more of a flood. These reflectors seem to give a nice solid beam with actually plenty of spill.

They are very easy to change by just un-screwing the lens holder and sliding out the reflector.
These lights are completely waterproof.

I havn't really decided on making anything really small.

I am working on a 1-cell and 2-cell lithium-ion battery holders that will be rechargeable with my charging kit.. The 1-watt uses a single lithium and the 5-watt uses two lithiums..
