Help Support Candle Power:

Man, I would really like to see a 2X larger version of that Strion!

I was told 2 months, that would be April-ish, which is close to May...Good enough for healthy speculation.

I wonder if SL will discontinue the Stinger series? I doubt it, mainly because of how many Stingers are out there, and they continue to be extremely popular...

I had a similar question, and the reply was "the SL20 still remains as popular today, as it's ever been". I discssed the issue of 3d/4d lights being used as clubs etc, and no doubt about it, many of the sales have shifted from leo, to consumers wanting something better than they had previously.
The stinger series, will remian a vital part of the Streamlight lineup blah blah

how does a 3xAA thingie feel on your head?>>>>>>>>>>

I don't think it is 3/AA, it's 3/AAA. Pity. It needs the AAs for run time.

It would take this:

100% power 1 hour
50% power 2.5 hours
25% power 6.5 hours

and make it 2 1/2 to 3 times more run time.

Actually due to some incredible luck late today, I have one in my paws right now:

Coupla things to know about this light:

1) dimming is via single-button Hi-Med-Lo in that order

2) hold for 3 secs and it begins flashing

3) battery strength indicator on back via three differently colored LEDs (green, yellow, red)

4) the 3AAA holder is small and light AND can be purchased separately for those really long spelunking trips

5) it is light, light, light on the head and has a topstrap, and also comes with a SEPARATE rubber strap for installation around a "mining helmet"

Why the widh for 123s Bernie? Are AAAs difficult to get in Germany?

OOOOOOH, a separate rubber strap for a mining helmet could quite easily be used for a hardhat, no?

I find configurations w/ 3AA in the front a bit too heavy. If using more than 2 AA batteries, most of the manufacturers put the batteries in the back and use the three strap mode. Several Princeton Tec, Black Diamond, and petzle headlamps have this configuration. It's a well balanced fit, but isn't ergonomic if you plan to use it for reading while lying down. More for outdoor use.

I don't see the pictures with Mozilla Firebird, but I do see them with Internet Explorer????

I don't see them with any of the Mac browsers I have: Safari, Firebird (now Firefox) and Internet Explorer. Sometimes one will load when I hit refresh about 15 times though.

Couple the Luxeon Jnr with the new IQ swich from NiteIze (same circuitry as in the Argo) and you now have a dimmable Luxeon.
My only concern is that have no circuitry, at 100% power the LS is being underdriven at 3 volts.

Charlie ... we in Germany are not THAT underdevelopped ... we actually do have AAAs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I wanted 123s because they are light and powerful and not too heavy on the head AND they are my most used battery type, making it easier to carry spares.
But if you say this is a good light, I'll go for one ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Depending on the bin of course. Most LS are being underdriven at 3 volts but can still produce plenty of output. My Inretech 2AA Luxeon is extremely bright for being driven at only 3V.

The Strion competes directly with the Pila G2/G2R: 3.7v, 5" length, LiION, etc. SL specs in cp as opposed to Pila's lumens. Can Strion convert to 6v/2x123 like Pila?

Yes, but the nice thing about a 3AA headlamp is that you can use lithium AA batteries, and they weight about half as much as regular batteries do.
