Today i found the new Streamlight "Super Tac" LED Flashlight on their website, with a C4 LED, anyone have more Infos about this light ? Price ?

LOOK AT THE HEAD ON THAT! Glad to hear that SL is finally using the Cree P4! They will probably have some other interesting lights coming out this year with the Cree.

I would assume they are referring to the Cree P4 (C4 as they list it)

Finally!!! Now I just hope they update the 4AA Luxeon with a Cree.

What exactly is a C4 LED? According to SL, it almost sounds like a proprietary LED, only used by Streamlight:

"NEW C4 LED TECHNOLOGY PUMPS UP THE BRIGHTNESS UP TO 3X MORE LIGHT INTENSITY.

Streamlight introduces a whole new kind of LED. With a brighter, more powerful, blinding light than any LED that's come before. Our new Streamlight-engineered reflector with C4 Photonic Crystal technology almost triples the brightness and creates an intense beam that pierces the darkness. So you get the long-run times and indestructibility of an LED with a new level of brightness that leaves other LEDs in the dark.

C4 approximates the range and brightness of a xenon bulb"

This is VERY very good news. Streamlight is one of my favorites for sure.

2.2" major diameter.. I'm assuming that's the largest part (the bezel). It doesn't sound overly massive, but the images make it look like it might be uncomfortable for belt carry.

135 Lumens sounds a little dim compared to the 200-250 lumen LED's we've become accustomed to seeing lately. I assume this number is out the front judging by the way the literature is worded.. compared to 220 lraw umen cree claims.

Wonder how hard it'll be to upgrade the LED.

I messed up my TL-2 LED trying to upgrade it... DOH!

Nice to see them walk out of the dark. It's been a very long time coming. Is it me or does this light have a slightly mean attitude about it.

Could use some crenelations though.

When the Lumens of the new Streamlight the same as the "only" 130 Lumen from the Pelican 7060, than i am very happy with this. Someone know the price ?

I've never seemed to like the body design of SL's. The Supertac looks like it uses a TL-2 body with a giant section attached to where the bezel would be. Look at how big and fat the head section is compared to the body part where you grip the light. I have a TL-3 which has the same body type towards the rear. It feels so skinny on the back end. Unlike SF bodies, SL's are strait without changes in body width. I

I agree. SF lights have a more appealing look to them. SL needs to put more work into their deigns........or they need more input from people like US!

I have seen them advertized...not in stock yet of course for around $77. (google search) I will buy one because I like streamlight...but I also hope the 130 lumens are more like the 170+ pelican gets out of its 130 lumen 7060. Runtime kind of makes me doubt it though.

I hope Sl used the time to make a good light. When the price is good it can be one of lights 2008

Played with it today - it uses a K2 flip chip. It's okay and throw is excellent but the head is ENORMOUS. Not a major winner IMO.

MattK,
I do not know if it was at the shot show but did they have the upgraded Stinger LED there?

Not the (DS) one but one with a Cree in it. Only reason I ask is one of the local dealers here in Vegas was telling me about it and I was curious as to whether or not it was true?

He said he saw a pre-production one when he visited Streamlight six months ago.

It looks like a TL2 with an Stinger HP Head, i must see.
@ Matt, can you compare the throw to an other light ? at Example an Tiablo A9, MA6, Fenix T1 or others ?

I didn't see any Cree/SSC products at the SL booth.

I had a LumaPower MRV Digital SE with me that's smaller, lots brighter and throws lots further. I had an MA6 with me and did not compare it. The Super Tac looks like one of those bells the Salvation Army guys ring - it's proportions are absurd.
