Stephan L, Wolf Eyes can make custom interfaces and do for the different requirements of specialist units within the Australian Police. Just decide what you need and get your department or 50 or so fellow officers to order the light.

I assume Surefire will custom make a light for you as well, but I am really not sure on that. If they do you may be able to get a E2DL as you like it.

Hi everybody,

as some others here, I was looking for this light, after it appeared on the CPF in this threat. Since I have been on vacation, I could not check the light on the Wolf-Eyes - website.

But now, back again, I checked it immediatly! And got ... somehow disappointed!

Why ... WHY ... WHY makes Wolf-Eyes a "concealed mode"???????????????? Sorry but I JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!

I work as a LEO and I am always looking for practical light to use on duty! As I saw the light first, I liked it: The size is good, it takes drop-ins for later upgrading, has a high output of max. 280 lumens and also the little gadget I love so much, the strobe.

But when I read about the UI it ruined just everything!
I should turn on and off the light 7 (seven ... SEVEN?!?!?!?!?) times, to switch from constant light to the strobe?!?!!?!
Helloho????????? If I do that, I already produced strobe and don't need it any more!

For a tactical light, I would need strobe as easy reachable as possible! If I would search a house, I would need momentary on, then, when I find something, I need constant on and if the person is coming on me in an aggressiv manner, I need the strobe! And all this may happen in less than 3 (THREE!) seconds!

So you see that there is no time for seven on-off - switches to reach the strobe!

HEY, this one goes out to all the flashlight manufacturers out there:

You have got to decide: wether to make a tactical light (with or without strobe), where all the functions are easy to access - or you make a light without those features like strobe, SOS, rescue beacon, etc.) and satisfy all those, that have no need for those things.

I'm taking a glass of tea now and calm down!

Sorry Wolf-eyes, but I won't get this light! It looked all good, until I saw the UI! Maybe you can change that - maybe then I would take it.

See you later.

Stephan

You need a Gladius, it's basically tailor made for what you want.

Anyway, besides the UI, nice job Wolf-Eyes, I really like how this light looks.

Personally i don't care for strobes, so having it hidden is fine by me.

My UI preference would be a high/low with the low being hidden in a similar fashion.

:crackup::crackup::crackup: Yes, thats true! :)

This Wolf-eyes two modes with one hidden is good for somebody, but for somebody not. For example for me it is good, because behavior of flashlight is normally like WITHOUT strobe's, which is for me in normal situations comfortable, because it is not "too multimode" for normal use. It behaves like 3-mode light. If I want strobe/sos/etc, I will call it trough 7 halfpresses. But I understand, that somebody wants quick acces to all functions, which this case is not. Nothing is for everybody. Bye!

Well darn it all to heck! That sucks and pisses me off.

Why would it be listed in the WE section of the PTS website, and come in a WE box if it wasn't WE? I bought WE because I wanted the quality of WE, but come to find out they are "ProLight" or some crap. No wonder I was disappointed by the output on these things.

Anyone want to buy 2 Wolf-Eyes (yet not Wolf-Eyes) R2 drop-ins that are way over-stated in their lumen claims?

I stick to my TK10... I love that thing. I only wish it had a tactical strobe.

While my WE Sniper with WE incan works fine, the Prolight R2 Digital Cree I got from there has been nothing but problems. Modes don't work properly and now the output has dropped significantly. Pisses me off too.

The Champion looks pretty good and the HA-III is nice to see. My Sniper is showing wear despite very light use and slimming things down is nice. Just wish it were 18650.

I would love to see a run time graph for the champion. Does any one know what the Drop-in's would cost?

Looks good, but the only thing I'm worried about is the claimed 280 lumens.

I have a WE Cree R2 drop-in that was claimed to be 260 lumens. My Fenix TK10 (rated at 225 lumens) is a tad brighter however.

I know over-rating lumens is common, and this is like beating a dead horse, but I'd like to see how this light stacks up to a TK10 before I think about it.

Are you running the module on 1x18650 (3.7V) or some other combination of multiple cells (6V or more, depending on module)

Wolf-Eyes modules are, from what I have been able to gather, all buck regulated. Depending on the design of the circuit, most buck regulated circuits will not run at maximum output from w 3.7V cell, even fully charged. Many of the buck regulators on the market require 4.5V or more to maintain regulation.

If you are already running it on 6V+, and it's still dimmer than the TK10, then nevermind. It's just overrated :)

----------------------

on a side thought

The price of the WE drop-ins is definitely on the high side for what you are getting IMO. Similar price will buy a single MalkOff, or 2 dereelight modules. Wolf-Eyes overall has been well received as offering a product that is competitive with high end flashlights, at a reasonable price, and built like a tank, the LED modules have a price tag that seems to break from the tradition.

I really like the look of this light and also the possibility to use 168b/17670 batteries.

I do have one question though and I can't find this particular information on Wolf-eyes homepage or the reviews here on CPF. What type of lens is used in the Champion? Glass, tempered, coated?

Any further information would be most welcome!

PS my first post after lurking quite a while. The Champion wouldn't be my first flashlight though, more the 15th or so. And all the nice people here have really convinced me that the ownership of that many lights is perfectly normal. Marginal utility is after all a highly abstract concept.

So, is the New Cree R2 WC Low VF - 280 Lumen

from PTS crap? I was going to get that, due to the slightly higher lumens over the Cree Q5.
