ok, i'll admit that i used to work for radioshack and thought that the energiser 2500 were the bomb, and was very ignorant as to follow that Mah rating being relative to superiority.

i just read a thread regarding enloops and retaining the power, and will definitely look into that.

i am going to power up a 100w osram62138 with some noname-ish cells off ebay 2700mah and costing me a dollar each basically.

i have heard with the hight rate titaniums being able to give off a higher amperage, although does not look "pleasing" to me with the 1650mah capacity.

so my question is -
1) runtime wise, who would win cheap2700 or high rates1650mah
2) would i notice a difference in high rate1650mah Brightness right off the bat, and would it maintain this ? would the 2700mah even do me justice ?

thanks guys. it would really mean alot to me to understand the technicals of these batteries.

Hello Nitnapz,

The high current cells tend to hold higher voltages under load. If your light is direct drive, you will observed that it is brighter, but the lower capacity means that it won't run as long.

If you can put up with a slightly dimmer light, the higher capacity cells will give you longer run time.

On the other hand, if your light is regulated, you will be better off with the higher capacity cells, as long as the voltage drop under load does not throw the light out of regulation.

Tom

I am sure that no one will hold it against you that you previously worked for Radio Shack... :) We are a pretty friendly bunch here.
