Hello DocD,

You use a NiCd charger to charge NiCd chemistry and a Li-Ion charger to charge Li-Ion chemistry.

I look forward with great interest to a real answer to this question.

Shelves in my local shaps are not exactly dripping with NiCad charges specifically made for 3.6V battery packs (I only ever see single-cell chargers), so what is the go?

I could make a constant current supply from scratch, but to be kind to the cells, I really need to add temperature, voltage and -dV cutouts. The latter two need to be variable to cope with different pack voltages, so I would prefer a commercial unit.

Does any such thing exist?

Hello Lctorana,

What, you didn't like my answer...? :)

OK, how about this.

A 3.6 volt NiCd battery pack is made up of 3 cells. To charge it you need a NiCd battery pack charger. I believe all of the hobby chargers (Schulze, Bantam, Triton, etc.) will work, and I also believe there may be a battery pack charger that is capable of charging a 3 cell battery pack at BatterySpace.

Is that better?

Tom
