these are the ones ive been eyeing from thomas distributing. has anyone bought these and know if these are good?

my question really is: are they really LSD? they are the only LSD D size ive ever seen.

im looking for batteries for my 2D LED maglite, that ive had for many years and only recently put an LED in.

the other option would obviously be to get a D adapter for AA batteries, and throw some eneloops in there. this wouldnt be a terrible option, given the more or less outrageous cost of these D batteries. (though these costs are not really an issue to me, given that compared to disposable alkalines, the cost per cycle is quite low). while i would have to switch batteries a lot more, i could get the same capacity from an 8 pack of eneloop AAs as i could from a 2 pack of these, for around the same cost.

i use a maha C808M charger that works with any size battery (cept 9 volt :\), so it makes no difference to me in that respect.

I bought 6 of the D cells and 6 of the C cells and they are very good. Best full capacity D cell NiMh's for the money and they are very expensive at about $11-$12 ea. I am on the 4 or 5th charge-discharge cycle on the D cells and on the 2 nd cycle on the C cells and they get better and better. They are much better then the standard 10,000 mA/hr Tenergy's that I got previously.

Very well worth the money. I am using them in a Stereo boom box that eats alkalines for lunch. I am probably going to buy more and in fact I probably won't be wasting anymore money on the Tenergy's 10,000 mA/Hr D cells which cost about $8 ea.

It is a very expensive investment. The six batteries in my boom box cost more then the boom box itself, but I will be buying more for my maglites and for my lanterns. I used the initial charge, then I ran them in the Maha 808 charger in soft reconditioning which took close to two days to complete. After that they seem to be well rated at 10,000 mA/hr.

I have those accupower 10,000mah lsd cells also. I use them in my 2d magled. They seem to hold their voltage quite well.

I just picked up four D cells. I ran the conditioning cycle at 2A and it took about 24hrs. Hopefully it got all four cells on the same page though.

4 C cells added a little heft to my 4C maglite. They're just a little heavier than the alkalines. Didn't notice the difference much with the 4D, it was already pretty heavy.

I would try out Eneloop AAs in adapters and see if the run time is acceptable. Just pop some in turn your device on and see how long it runs. I think you will be surprised how long they last.

I am afraid of the voltage increase, I don't want to feed it more than 6V

(3D Malkoff module)

The other main issue is reduced capacity. No AA will match those 10,000 mAh D sized cells.

I also have these in both a C and a D size.

I used the D's in a 3xD Maglite with an Elektrolumens 3xSSC LEDs drop in (about 600 lumens altogether).

Obviously, this is one powerful light factory, and the batteries worked fine. Plenty of hours of output too (though I didn't measure how many).

They take some time to recharge, of course.

I just measured some I had unused for some months and the voltage is also fine.

I guess you have to decide in terms of money whether it is worth your while to get them, as indeed they are not cheap. For me it was worth it, as I like using the 600 lumen drop-in, and don't want to worry about how many alkalines I had to throw out to be able to use it without the rechargeables!

got some of the C cells, for a car flashlight, one charge , musta been some 7 months ago, and the light is still working , hmmm mabey i should recharge it come to think of it. the Older ni-mhy d-cell light had to be topped off 2 times as much, as it did its usual self discharge.
for self discharge they seem to be effective enough for the needs i used them in.
