Nitecore MT2A and XP-G3?

So my new nitecore mt2a arrived today and it seems to be a very nice 2aa light! Packaging and product page both indicate Xpg2 with a max of 345 lumens but the LED sure looks like an xpg3 to me. No bonding wires and fully yellow chip. Is this a known update? Certainly my brightest and by far best throwing 2aa light to date...
