I keep mine at the max power setting, but occasionally (mainly with any quick movements) it can flash off, or one time go into an odd strobe-ish effect. Sometimes it stays off for a few seconds.

Anyone else ever experience something like this?

Sounds like low voltage protection...

Sometimes, when the battery isn't held as firm as it should, a quick movement can cut off the contact for a very short time and the protection circuit may think the battery is depleted. My Fenix PD30 acted this way, with two new cells I took the light firmly in my hand and clapped the hand against the other to give the batteries a movement. The protection circuit was activated and I even needed to change the cells to get it working again, the "faulty" cells still work today in another light.

Try to clean the contacts, if you have Deoxyd, give them a drop. You could try to gently stretch the rear spring (CAUTION!!!) to make the cell held firmer or just add a little magnet to a contact to simulate a firmer fit, to see what happens.

If all that doesn't help, either contact the dealer or Nitecore directly (if you bought it at 4Sevens) to have it serviced...

EDIT : I forgot to check if the ring in the tailcap is tight, reason number 1 for such problems...
