Noob questions about Itp C9 and C8

First post and new to the technology. I currently own the Itp C7t and love the design and want to expand ownership within the discontinued series. I don't believe the C9R body and tailcap will function with the C7 tactical head. Is the best solution to purchase the complete C9R and C8 body and regular tailcap? I believe this would give me C7T, C9R, C8R, C8T as options. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Any recommendations where to purchase Itp bodies and tailcaps?
Thanks for any help

From what I understand the heads should be interchangeable.
Regular switch should work with tactical head, all it does is cut off the circuit.

I would recommend you direct this question to goinggear and/or shiningbeam. (or another retailer that carries/carried the itp C-series) They have both sold or are selling the itp C-series and should understand your question well.

They both might have limited stock in what you need.

FYI, this was a pretty short lived series but I really liked them. They were an unusual shape and I always wondered why they discontinued these so quickly and transitioned to the S-series lights. There wasn't any emitter upgrade or anything, and the lights are similar functionality wise.

Thanks joe1512. I contacted shiningbeam and received a response immediately from Bryan
He said Tactical version's head won't work with regular version's tail as they are different circuitry. I believe that you will not have SOS or Strobe modes if using a tactical head.

Let me chime in, Lt.

and first, :welcome:

As I own the complete range of the itp C series, let me tell you, Bryan is completely right :twothumbs

Let's see it as corresponding sets: Heads and tailcaps, in Regular and Tactical versions respectively. So in answer to your first question, you need for your AA lego:

- a C7T (one AA), which you've got already
- a C8R (two AA)

Then you can swap the battery tubes and can build:

- a C7T
- a C7R
- a C8R
- a C8T

The C9R is the red herring here. In order for compact construction, battery tube and 'tailcap' are one part. A C9T was in the planning, but never built IIRC. I got my C9R here. Scroll down to the middle of the page.

There are also a C10T & C10R plus a C6T & C6R for use of two CR123s. The C10 can also use one 17670 and has the same appearance as the 7/8/9 models. The tailcaps could be awapped, the heads not. The C6 can also use one 18650 or 17670. It is a beefier construction with a larger head and greater throw.

So I hope your questions have been answered

Best regards,

Wolfgang

"not work" is also a bit strong.

It will work but a regular head with a momentary switch is not ideal.
A reverse switch on a tactical head is fine, it just goes on and off.
A forward switch on a multimode light takes a little getting used too.

Thanks Wolfgang and Shark. Now I just have to find someplace stateside that still sells the C-series and has the C8R and C9R. I may just have to purchase the C10R/T and C6R/T too
