Hey guys. I store my light in the charging dock, in my car, unplugged. It lasts maybe 3 weeks to a month of zero use before the battery is dead. Is this normal? I've been sent a replacement tailcap as well as battery, but after installing these I'm wondering if it's just normal? I bring it in and charge it off ac. Should it just Be kept on trickle charge the whole time the car is on?

Well, i have also went through the same problem. But this often happens in winter times with the battery. I called customer service and as per them i need to start my car everyday once to keep battery going on.

i'm surprised they're still flogging this ill-fated model. dozens of us had it kill our batteries dead. olight tried to tell people it was just a bad batch of batteries and indeed they sent me 4 or 5 of them and the charger killed every single one. you'd think they'd have sent me a new charger, but no, they just wanted to deny there was a problem.

i actually still have one working battery, but i charge it in a standalone charger and i don't trust the light any more. it's a shame because the emergency light feature of it where it comes on if there's a power failure would have been useful. and of all the flashlights i've owned, it's about the perfect ratio of power vs size and fits into the hand very comfortably and you can carry it for hours.

i also had the original non-pro model which charged from a magnetic tailcap and i had no problems with it, but i've lost track of where that one went. at first i would put the battery from the pro into the non-pro to charge it, but since then i've found a charger which will sort of charge the battery also it has some strange or mixed polarity to make it work with the pro fast charger and the magnetic chargers.

but then again, since your battery didn't die, you might have an entirely different but related problem. i just would trust the r50 pro system at all.
