Primary purpose
at work what's needed is initial point-in-subject(s)-face-and-blind-them.

Secondary purpose.. well it would be great to have some usable light.
It's a toss up between:

  1. SST-50
  2. MCE
  3. XPG

  • I think a bigger hotspot is better for more then 1 person, with less precision in pointing required.
A) Am I correct??

  • I'm aware the type of beam makes a difference.* A 300 lumen thrower can be more blinding then a 500 lumen flood-light.
B) Can a XPG be "brighter" then a SST-50?

Considering but lack of specifics (unreleased; runtime, brightness) still don't know yet:

  1. Maelstrom MCE
  2. Maelstrom XPG
  3. Nailbender SST-50 --- Surefire C2 host
  4. Eagletac XPGs

All help and advice will be graciously accepted. Thanks! lovecpf

*Note: I had an E2DL, tried a Quark Turbo. With my coworkers as test subjects:

QT (230 lumen) > E2DL (200 lumen)
Brighter light > Focused thrower w/ TIR optic

I would go with the Nailbender SST 50 in a C2 host. This is the exact setup I use some nights on the job, and it really gets work done. It's even better when you bore out the C2 and run an 18650; plenty of runtime, and you can always throw a couple 123 primaries in a cargo pocket for backup.

Officercamp,

How long do you leave it running continuously?

I've been hoping for a pic of a C2 with the LX2 clip here, but no luck so far.

Edit:
I'd really like the C2 body for sure.
Won't know about the others, but it looks like the Combat-grip body doesn't rely on knurling for grip, which is great for gloves.

I second that :D

Huh, a second opinion.

What's the max on-time for the C2 host and that drop-in?
The Combat-grip sure looks good for gloves...

We won't know for sure about the others till the Maelstrom and the Eagletacs are released.
I can't help but get the feeling Jetbeam will have something new out at Shot Show.

Anyone know bout this..? Anyone??

Pic request: C2 w/ LX2 clip
