I wonder what my options are on a 2AA flashlight with 4000-4500 Kelvin LED with Cree Q bin range efficiency (doesn't have to be a Cree though). LED must not be too greenish either.

If I'm not mistaken, Cree Q5 can be had in this color temp range.

Thanks

There is another option

Buy a Nitecore D20 mod from Tekno_Cowboy

P.S. the best flux bin you can currently get is Q3. Don't worry, I've had some that are just as bright in flashlights I modded, which were sold to have a Q5 inside.

You can use a Surefire 6P, G2, Z2,C2 with a Malkoff M30W plus a 1 cell extender to accomodate the 2 AA batteries. This is the combination that I just put together. It is more expensive to go this route, but you're buying USA products that are made of high quality.
The Fenix TK20 is less expensive, high degree of quality, can tailstand, and has the advantage of a lower mode.

You can also contact CPF member datiLED and ask if he can swap out the LED for a Q3 5A LED in a particular flashlight that you're interested in.
He is currently doing this on a Fenix L1D that I sent him. A Fenix L2D would work just as well.

hey, I like the looks of that TK20 and the price is not bad. Anyone side by side it with an L2D? I have that one and wonder about the throw.

Thanks for all the information. The TK20 it is. It may be a while before I can actually get it, but I'm pretty much decided. Good throw and the tint I'm after.

Well, when it comes to
1) good throw
2) 2xAA
3) good tint

Only one production light meets all 3 criteria.
