P1D CE - it IS a momentary push button - normal?!?

My P1D CE does not do that. It appears that you have one ot those "loose heads" that have been discussed here a few weeks ago. Look for the thread.

Yes, that is exactly the same as mine, it is because the thread is too loose. On a tight one this does not happen.

Mine is as loose as a whore, so some heavy duty silicone brake grease solved the problem, firm and tight. Awesome Fenix quality isn't it?

I now understand about looseness--- thanks for the video.

Mine will do that after approx 1/4 turn to off but not a 1/2 turn.

Another thing I noticed in your video that I'm relieved to see is that you have a ring of un-finnished metal as well.

Lord help me, I look at that as a feature. Evidently the Borg has assimilated me and I didn't even know it.

........ your saying that we're.

I think it's two things here.
One -- owners are worried they get the right batch.
Two-- maintence of the light.

It's laughable I agree .... but lets not go down that path.

(unless your actually not making fun of us)

No, not making fun of you! My light does the same thing, and I truly look at it as a feature. I like having a momentary on. And, the threads on mine nevertheless do not feel loose in any way. The head is tight and turning it is actually a bit more difficult than I'd like, but I can't get it to rattle at all. Nevertheless, at a quarter turn, I get the momentary effect. Like I said, I've been assimilated :)

I have a natural P1D CE which is loose, with the light off I can rock the head such that the head to body gap closes about half a mm. I often use it as a momentary so it does not bother me, but will it last? I checked on another natural P1D CE I bought for my Dad at the same time and it is much tighter. My L0D CE is far worse with about 1mm of movement in the head to body gap, though its smaller diameter makes onehanded operation OK.

Have you cleaned the treads

I've cleaned out the threads, but that's not going to help, if not make it worse.

So do you guys think I can send this one back and get one with tighter threads? (these are very loose, way too loose. there is no good reason for it to be this loose.)

I am having problems with activation. the light will flash when turning it on, forcing me to change modes unintentionally.

If the head of your P1D is so much loose that you have problems in switching modes I believe this is reason enough for asking for a replacement. I suggest you contact the dealer mentioning this problem.

Some play in the threads is one thing but bad switching is a totally different issue.

I agree that the switching is an issue.
However .... when I first got mine it took me quite a while(not really but playing) to get familiar with the levels/switches/twists.
I know it sounds silly but it does take some practice.

Personally I don't see that looseness as a feature. I want to know that its off when its off.
