P60 Module Storage

I love the P60 concept and have several hosts and lots of modules that need more than a tiny ziplock bag for storage. A rigid plastic Fujifilm film container is about the right size, and it works best with 3/8" closed cell foam on the bottom. Fujifilm containers are clear and have a cap that snaps inside. I store the P60 module head down, and the spring fits nicely into the center recess on the cap. A label on the outside records the brand, emitter, voltage range (i.e., 4.2V max or 8.4V max), and other relevant info. You may be able to get these containers for free from your local photo shop, but I bought a bunch on Ebay for about 15 cents each.

Being the pack rat that I am, about 5 years ago I stashed away a bunch of 35mm film canisters thinking "I might be able to use those some day" :D

If you don't want to bother cutting a foam disc, some water bottle caps are 3/8" high and fit snuggly in the bottom of the Fujifilm cannister (top side up). The spring engages the center depression in the lid just enough to keep the P60 module from moving.

My kids had some mini M&Ms the other day. I noticed the size of the plastic container they come in looked about right for a P60. It will sit in the opening but won't fall on in and the cap will close across it. It is much longer than needed but it makes a great storage container for a P60.

Got to Michaels, etc, and look around the bead isle for storage containers. I found one that fits the P60 drop ins perfect, and holds other things too:

Will it fit some cr123s?

I bought some mini M&Ms last night so that I could check(I'm a new flashaholic but a recovering chocolate addict). 1 CR123 battery will go in along with a drop-in. The spring on the drop-in has to compress too much for 2 batteries to fit. Some type of padding/packing would need to go between the battery and the drop-in. The container has a bevel at the opening that holds the drop-in like it was made for it.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have an organized multi-compartment case for my flashlight parts, I'd call you all a bunch of nerds!

Nice tip on the film canisters. I'll try that!

WadeF you are a genius. May you live for a thousand years.:twothumbs

I went to Michaels and bot a similar storage box with 12 jars inside for $8.99 and received a 40% off coupon so I bot a 2nd one for $5.39 (average cost $7.19):

Great tips there fellas! I was storing mine in bubble pack and was comtemplating picking up a small Pelican case and cutting out the foam to fit my P60's in but the little bottles and film canisters are better options. :twothumbs

Great tips, I just got into the P60 game so I don't really have anything to put them in.

Wow! I Like these simple ideas the CPF community comes up with...next time were in the city, I'll be stopping at hobby-lobby! I got about 5 p60 modules floating around in my plano case...not for long! Thanks for the tips guys!

granted that screw top containers idea is the best...I would love to have one but it is not reasonable finding and ordering one to be delivered in Greece....

I have another method which is more fun and TASTY!

The good part is that accounting the local imitations of the idea I now have ammassed a multicolor collection that makes it possible to have the 11 color coded combinations for my different modules, plus more for feature additions...:twothumbs

They look good. The only problem for me is, I can never open those damn things without crushing them.
