How come the G3 LED is rated at a shorter runtime than the G2 LED, with the same output?

G2 LED - 80 Lumens @ 12 hours
G3 LED - 80 Lumens @ 9.4 hours

How come the 3 cell light doesn't last longer?

Further:
6P LED 80 Lumens @ 11 hours
P60L LED assembly 80 Lumens for up to 12 hours depending on light

Is the P60L LED assembly voltage regulated?

If I put a P60L LED assembly into both my 6P and my 9P, will the initial light output appear identical?

The G3 having a shorter runtime sounds crazy. P60L is voltage regulated. My 6p-9p use shows same output, and 9p is 100% for sure running a longer time that my 6p. Anything else while I'm here?

The information you are quoting is wrong! The P60L is the same light module whether it is in a G2L or G3L. The only difference between these lights is the number of batteries used. I can assure you that the G3L DOES provide the same amount of light as a G2L except that it does so for a good while longer.

The key here is how the output/runtime is quoted:

G2 LED - 80 Lumens @ 12 hours
G3 LED - 80 Lumens @ 9.4 hours
This is NOT 80 lumens for 12 hours, the starting output is 80 lumens, and the total 'useful' runtime is 12 hours.
From chevrofreaks runtime tests, the 'high' output (which quickly drops to less than 80 lumens due to thermal regulation) is about 4.5 hours for the G2L, and from Surefire the G3L gives 'high/tactical' output for 5.8 hours.
Also the regulation in the P60 is not going to have the same efficiency at both 6v and 9v.

So the G3L runs at high/regulated output for longer but has slightly less total 'useful' runtime. I would also guess that the 'drop' after regulation is less steep with the G3 LED (which also reduces the total runtime).

The difference between the 6P

6P LED 80 Lumens @ 11 hours
and the G2 with the P60L @12 hours is that the 6P dissipates heat better (all metal) so has higher output during the 'regulated' phase - again see chevrofreaks runtime.

From the sources above (which obviously are not directly comparable)

G2 LED - high 4.5h - total 12h
G3 LED - high 5.8h - total 9.4h
6P LED - high (higher than the G2L/G3L) just over 3h - total 11h

Hi,
I was wondering what happen if you put 12v on p60l or 18v, will that cause any problem to the bulb? I'm talking about 3 or 4 rcr123a. Can anyone help
