So I branched away from maglites... bought this vintage Big Beam 104.

Added A P7 and single mode driver (dx 20330), Still powered by the 6v 908 lantern battery. To get the Beacon light to still work, instead of rewiring it i spliced the orginal wiring.

To get the reflector (dx 13803) to fit, I made a carbon fiber bezel. I also made a fiberglass one that is painted in glow in the dark (sorry no pictures here - soon maybe)

I did this for camping, massive light, massive spill and depending on what battery used i can get 4 to 10+ hours run time. :D

dx 20330 was the driver, single mode, 8.4v max.
The reflector is Dx 13803, Glad i picked It as I needed mostly flood. It has a soft useable hotspot.

Im taking a chance on heatsinking, many have said the "copper base" doesn't do much but I'm banking on the metal housing and being used mostly in the cold outdoors won't let it get too hot.

That's really cool. I really like retro classsic mods, cheers

Thanks, the carbon's not the greatest... First time laying it, practicing for my project truck. :)

I haven't looked at all, but changing the beacon light to a led would be neat. I don't think you can buy a single mode - strobe only driver though.
