I know this is an LED light but I'm pretty sure this qualifies as a spotlight/searchlight.

I was taking a peek (pun intended) over at the Peak website and came across this bad boy (bottom of page):

http://www.em-mgt.com/LED/SANDR.html

No photos of the SR6000 are available, but from the looks of the SR450 and the SR1500 it's going to be a monster. You just can't go wrong with 6500 lumens and Peak.

I'm guessing Peak is a largely underrated brand here on CPF, thus the lack of enthusiasm. Release date is 9/2010 so it's definitely on my wishlist.

Did I mention this is going to run off of one LED sitting in a 105mm reflector??? INSANE!

Interesting. Considering the CSM 360 is a $200 LED, this light is not going to be cheap. It's basically 4x SST-90 dies in one package. It will be interesting to see how they end up heatsinking the beast.

seen prototype pics of the other SR models- copius amounts of finned aluminum......and it will still get nice and warm. Peak makes rock solid stuff- I doubt if it makes it to market @ RMSK until December or early next year......Curt is pretty busy.

It looks like it has been bumped to November. Is there any chance you could share an estimate of how much it will cost when released (with and without batteries and charger)? I don't own any Peak lights yet, but I'm ready to buy this one if the price is right. I'm holding off on buying another light in anticipation of this one. Don't worry, I won't try to hold you to any estimate you may give, I'm just looking for a ballpark so I can budget accordingly.

Thanks,
Tom

Try emailing them.:)

If I had to hazard a guess it would be in the $2000~$3000 range, maybe higher.

Again this is just a guess so don't take my word for it.:tinfoil:

Release date has been pushed to December. I don't blame Curt for taking his time, I would want a solid and well thought out product before it's available for purchase.

Bumping this thread because this light seems so promising.

CORRECTION: Bumping this thread because this beast needs to be unleashed!

Any news DUMDUM?

It would seem almost too good to be true to actually manage to harness the enormous power of this led in a responsible way with effective enough heat-sinking.

The Olight SR90 is still the only production led flashlight that has truly managed to elicit an optimum level of performance from the SST-90 in terms of throw and output and look how huge it needs to be in order to achieve this.

Is it really going to be possible to make a flashlight employing the CSM-360 in a managable size and in the same instance realize the true power of this led that's four times the size and power of an SST-90? Somehow I doubt it.

2000 to 3000 dollars... for a LED flashlight!!! are you taking the pi$$

i can buy a maxabeam for that!!

dose it may tea and coffee!!!

Perhaps it is not considered a production flashlight, but the VaraPower2000 manages 2000 OTF lumens after minutes of run time.

Does anybody have any more info on this? Very exciting if they can pull it off for a reasonable price. I don't consider $1000 reasonable. If the light is that expensive or more, it will be up against premium HID lights which will blow it away.

It's not a matter of if, but when. Peak wouldn't be trying to make a prototype if it was impossible.:naughty:

The final price is anybody's guess. Based on the custom Phoenix reflector, the CSM-360 LED, the machining/anodizing for the body (LOTS of fins/heat sinks), electronics and batteries, it's definitely not going to be cheap. All of these things considered, $1000 would be a bargain. Heck the Kong-12 (10,800 lumens, almost double the lumens of SR6000) is $1500.

If the light is that expensive or more, it will be up against premium HID lights which will blow it away.

Apples and oranges.:dedhorse:
