Pelican M6 upgraded?

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Is the LED module on the M6 2330 removable? If so, how about contacting Pelican to see if they sell the Cree module for the 2390? Maybe you can swap out the module on your 2330 with the new one. The 2330 and 2390 seem almost identical.
Or heck, get the CL1H v4 :D, lots of emitter/driver choices (WC, 5A, 1S, 3SM etc, Malkoff) and future-proof as well .

i have enquired about buying just the LED module but sadly its not sold seperately. i have 2 LED modules from http://www.mteccd.com/ & it fits. just need to remove the outer coil spring, strangely mine was rated at 185 lumens back then. (that's the only brand of 3rd party upgrade i can find & test it locally before buying...)

2330 is typeII while the 2390 is HAIII. well, the M6 is future proof enough to me at least! :grin2:

Hey, that MTE D7011 module (mteccd.com) looks interesting. It's said to fit Pelican M6 lights but I wonder if it'll fit a PM6-3330? Then I can revive my long dormant light.

hi seale navy,

i have tested the Malkoff (not sure if all the same dimensions) does not fit into the 2330 host, it could be that my 2330 is the threaded (older) version? i did not try it with the newer unthreaded version of my 2390. the threads will narrow the space for modules, maybe sanding the module or the host may work...?

the MTE fits both un/threaded version of my 2330 & 2390, with its outer spring removed.

maybe some other folks here could chip in to answer ur question?

hi jimfwh,

if u like u can PM me to meet up. i'll be glad to lend it to test the fit. the oni issue it that some said it is relatively expensive compared to the DX and the likes sold online...

-----------------

*i have read some threads that some DX or so P60 drop-in not lighting up with some host despite voltage being within stated limits. that'z the downside of buying online without kowing if it will work... :shakehead

i have the old luxeon version of this light :)
online price is wayyy better.

anyone can confirm what lamp replacement module can fit the 2390?
not from MTE please...

hi Chesterqw,

which bulb module can fit into the host may depend on whether the host body is threaded where the bulb module sits. the newer & brighter MTE module does not fit into the unthreaded M6 host, sanding away the threads may work, but i never tried it. :candle:

Lightfet was kind enough to lend me his Malkoff & it does not sit into the (threaded) host. that is 1 reason i do not buy items online. :shakehead

*newer Peli M6 hosts are no longer threaded at the bulb ends. i have both the threaded (2330) host & unthreaded (2390).

hope that helps.

mine's a 2390 :)
if i get what you mean, unthreaded = the lamp assembly drops in and not screw in right?
if yes, that means the malkoff will fit mine for sure...
so p60 malkoff is the same as many other p60 LED assembly right?
lumensfactory here i come...
the incan bulbs looks so nice btw :P

yes, the lamp assembly is a drop-in, not screw-in to fit.

hmmm, how do u know the Malkoff will fit?

btw, another forumer reported a module not lighting up. i think u should read it. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?p=2833805#post2833805 & http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?p=2737443#post2737443

... but lighting up?..

since it doesn't sit into the threaded ones, then it should be able to fit into the 2390 right?

if all else fail, i will get a 6P :P

well just to confirm.because im kinda confused with the explanation.

let's say if I have the M6 3W LED#2390. Will it fit the malkoff perfectly without any alteration to the spring whatsoover?

hi Chesterqw,

if its the Malkoff u are refering to, i cannot guarantee as i have never tried.

newer MTE rated at 255 lumen naked eye comparison, it puts out about similiar output to Fenix T1. bad news, the module is threaded & does not sit into the newer unthreaded M6. :shakehead will have to sand away the threads on the module. luckily, it can be screwed further in my threaded M6 (2330) host.

made in the USA with serial number on mine XD

okay. now to either convince my parents to let me use their CC or find someone local to order for me :/

not flashlights. i want to buy the LED module that replaces the P60 lamp, which will hopefully fit into the pelican m6 2390.
if not... either i buy a g2 or a 6P...
