dayton oh
iirc this is a myo5
looks just like the myobelt sb5 with the battery box on the band.
anyway i put kodak precharged nimh in it last month after a few breakin cycles.
just got it out again and DEAD!
it was off and locked out.
anyone else have this problem?
batts are charging now on the c9000.

Maybe you just happened to have NiMhs with a very high self discharge rate. I have never heard of anyone having problems with the Myo discharging batteries while off.

well i called petzl and told them what was going on along with discussing the "recall".
since i do not use alkalines this hl was going to be useless to me.
they are going to swap it out for a myo xp.
they dont have the myo5 ready for rechargables yet.
so far 2 thumbs up for their handeling of this issue.

Snakebite - can you get a current meter and do a measurement for any
leakage current out of the fully charged batteries while installed in the Myo5 and its off.

Install all batteries but:
Place a slip of paper between one of the batteries and its contact and then
with the meter on the most sensitive current measurement setting see if any
current flows through the meter with the Myo5 off.

If yes then the Myo5 is bad. If zero then its good.

Oh and did you measure the voltage on the batteries when this happened? Were they at zero volts?
If so this set of batteries will be suspect whatever the cause. NimH batteries, as you know ,are damaged when discharged below about 1.1volt
Double bad is if let sit for a month discharged like that really is supposed to ruin them.
