Petzl Tikka and Princeton Tec Quad at REI

[WTH]

I'm not sure about the REI stores in other areas, but the REI here in concord has both the Petzl Tikka and Princeton Tec Quad on sale for $19.99 each. This is the best price I've seen for these headlamps. I bought the Quad since it has the multiple levels, regulation and low battery indicator. Just wanted to let everyone know, in case the REI in your area has the same ones on sale!

Wow, I didn't realize the deal is online too! At least I didn't have to pay shipping. So far, I'm very happy with the quad, having played with it a bit last night.

The Tikka XP isn't regulated either. There are runtime graphs showing that. Most Petzel headlights aren't regulated, not even the top of the line models, unlike Princeton Tec...

Actually, I like the unregulated Petzl Tikka XP for that reason. It doesn't just die out abruptly like some regulated lights do.

The output graph on flashlightreviews.com for the Tikka XP was completed using alkalines. Using NiMh batteries will give you a much flatter output curve, almost like a regulated light.
