Petzl zoom LED beam shots anyone?

I recently dug up my old Petzl Zoom. You know, that fossil of a headlamp that can take all kinds of abuse for ten years and still work.

Now I was hoping to combine this "miner's look" with LED technology. So far I found the Terralux TLE-1S drop in (screw in) LED replacement but I was wondering what the beamshot would look like and if it really would be an improvement. This bulb can be had for roughly $13 on the bay. Does anyone here have a beamshot for me?

A new smaller LED Petzl headlight (tikka or likewise) would cost a bit more and would probably be the way to go for most people, putting the zoom in a box in the attic to look at from time to time and remember the old days. (When a 3D maglite with a krypton bulb was th best.) But I'd really like to keep using my zoom, I want a bit more power from it, longer battery life and preferably at low/very low costs ($15 or so tops.)

And if you're wondering what I want to use it for: night fishing on the beach mainly. Salt water, sand, fish slime and all other sorts of outdoor goodness I really don't want to smear all over a tiny little high-tech LED headlamp.

Hi,

I found a picture of Terralux TLE-1F (flange base, but same LED?) at Petzl Mega Belt, it is similar Headlamp to the Zoom, but I don't know for sure if it has the same reflector. Hope this helps anyway.

Picture was on the Finnish Trekking forum Vaellusturinat. Its size 1600px x 1200px and 147.92 kt, so here is just a link to it:

Some translation, on the picture there is different pictures with set of new and set of old batteries:
Käytetyt patterit = old batteries
Uudet patterit = new batteries
And at the bottom of the picture there is just different exposure used to show the flood better.

Any bream-shots?!?

LOL

I'll be sure to make some pictures of me fishing with the headlamp on :D

Thanks for the images!... I can conclude from this that my normal incan. bulb (not even a halogen) will probably seem like a glowing ember compared to an LED in there.

Although the beam is a bit ringy I don't care much for that. As long as I have enough light and a long running time I'm happy. I guess I'll be ordering that LED drop in from Terralux.
