PhlatElephant - FM Elephant PhlatLight LED mod

I had a first generation Elephant that needed a little a upgrade. The Luminus Devices SST-90 PhlatLight seemed like a great match. I had already tried the SST-90 in a Maglite, but the little reflector simply didn't do this LED justice.

9A DW Powerbuck

Britelumens SST-90 MAG D Deluxe Heatsink

SST-90-W65S-F11-GN102

custom mdocod 3x 18650 Serial Battery Adapter



The Powerbuck gets potted to the back of the BL heatsink

The BL heatsink gets modified to fit behind the reflector, the lip gets removed and a set screw is installed

Test fit for proper reflector height

Glow epoxy added to dress it up

The reflector was reamed by Mac, my machine skills can't touch his :bow:

Awesome light. Surpised you never got any replies. Did you ever get around to taking any beam shots? Did the elephant heat up alot less then the maglite did?

Wow nice work, I'm working on a elephant ll body with a shower head using 4 of ash aspheric lenses but I'm just waiting on a design for a battery holder for it can't wait for your beam shots
