I lost my "go to" work flashlight. Here's what I need...

mc-e, p7, or sst50
2 x 18620
under $100
2-5 modes
no direct drive ( must use a driver)
flood or thrower doesn't matter
it would be nice to be able to use a red filter

Any suggestions?

Re: pick me a DX flashlight

Hi,

Not sure about the red filter availability but this is one of the better quality (maybe I just got lucky) lights.

MTE SF-15 SSC P7-D-SXO 4-Mode Memory 900-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*18650)

Very decent for the price.
Ive purchased close to 20 lights from DX and this is probably the only one I haven't wanted to change or mod. (it is definitely not 900 lumens OTF).
Good blend of hotspot and plenty of flood.

A steal for $30

If you must have an SST-50, the LumaPower Dmini VX Ultra is nice too. Its easily brighter than the MTE but more than 3x the price (dont think its avail on DX though). hotspot size is slightly larger than the MTE.

Re: pick me a DX flashlight

One that is fairly highly rated is the Trustfire TR-1200. It has 5 decent-throw emitters driven at 1A each, can take 2 or 3 18650s (comes with extender pipe), and is quite a bit brighter than a 1x18650 P7. There is a customer video that shows the comparison. Its a good sized, solid light for 46 bucks!

Read the reviews and see what you think: sku.30683

DX doesnt have a whole lot of 2x18650 options from what Ive seen, so I think this is one of the best. Most of theirs are 30ish dollar 1x18650 (which is still pretty decent).

You might want to go to the Budget Section and get more feedback.
