Very interesting idea. IMHO the way to get the smallest light imaginable would be the integrated 10220 or 10180 LiIon cell, with a Luxeon Rebel LED, direct drive perhaps with a surface-mounted resistor. Brightness would be a bit lower than using a Cree, but size would be reduced, and perhaps using a neutral-White rebel would give the light an advantage over the Cree in terms of color output.

Next, instead of worrying about a way to change the battery, simply build a charger for it to dock to, maybe a USB-powered cradle, and simply charge the entire light up.

Have you been peeking? :laughing: 10180 was my plan cause I don't like button cells at all.
