Hi,

I just took an old GL2 with an incan bulb and LED tailcap apart and it now won't light up the incan. I've tried two incan bulbs but it flat refuses to light up..... The LED tailcap works just fine.

Edit: Should clarify, this is the old style Pila with a knurled body and GL2 DF3185 marked on the flat section of the body.

Can anybody help?

Cheers

Dave

Hm. IIRC, the fact that the leds light up means that the bulb is not burned out. Dumb question: do you have the right voltage batts matched to the right lamp? I'd say the incan wasn't making contact, but the fact that the leds light says it is.

What do you mean by, "took it apart"?

I took the head off to try out a LF D26 LED module (which is too long) and simply replace the lamp assembly but nothing comes out of the incan.....

I've tried shorting the +ve battery terminal to the brass battery tube but no joy.

I'm stumped....

Dave, try turning the batteries around. Old style Pila are picky about the polarity in which you insert the cells.

If that doesn't work, use a DMM and check your LA's for continuity. If there's no beep, the filaments are cracked.

 You sure the batts are fully charged?

Doh! I tested the original batteries on a cheapo meter I keep in my range bag and they showed as good. But when I put in a fresh set the incan fires up just fine.......

Sorry guys, false alarm!

Cheers
