I've been a satisfied user of the Pila charger for several years. Recently, however, the charger appears 'dead' when plugged into a live outlet. The charger itself works because I briefly (accidentally) plugged it into another adapter (can't use the non-Pila adapter because its output is not identical to the Pila's). To the best of my recollection I have always unplugged the adapter from the charger when it's not actively charging cells. I assume it would be safe to use an off-brand adapter with the identical specifications, if I can find one. I'll be contacting Pila to see about a replacement adapter. Has anyone else had an adapter fail?

Hi faucon,

Sorry to hear about your charger. Just curious, but how often did you use the charger? I've been using mine once a week for close to two years.

Hi dudemar, I would guess that I have used mine on about the same schedule as you, for roughly the same time period. I just remembered, though, that the adapter was plugged into the same outlet as a computer that was damaged in a power surge some months ago. While the adapter worked fine for months after that, I wonder if it could have sustained some damage during the surge?

It might be just that. I'm pretty sure Pila will take care of you, they're great guys.

If that doesn't work you can always try contacting the guy who sold it to you, most of the dealers on CPF are understanding fellows.
